Art Gives Eyes to See

My mother is an accomplished artist, and I have been painting since I had the coordination and muscular development to smear finger paints on newsprint.

Participating in creating something has changed in meaning over the years for me. It was initially something I simply enjoyed. Creation then changed from a process to a goal for me; I wanted to accomplish something specific and create something worthy. Now, I think art is a process, a goal, and a message. The process of creating requires mindfulness and focus. "Being in the present moment." Art also involves goals and a vision for your end product, while also requiring you to be flexible. Art defeats my perfectionism. And art is a media for communication. I mean something when I create; whether it is a cohesive, thoughtful message, or a collection of feelings and thoughts.

This shop is a means of sharing my work; it is a means of encouraging my productivity; and it is a means of supporting my art habit. Every work here is an original -- created by me at every stage. I strive to create quality pieces which are advertised and sold honestly and will last for generations. Conceptualization often begins with a series of sketches exploring an idea or look, or I may begin by barreling ahead without much forethought. Implementation is a process of blocking in, carving away, trial and error. Reaching an end is perhaps the most difficult part for me. Defining a point when a piece is "done," and it is time to move on, is an art all in itself. I try my best, and still often find myself returning to a piece again and again until it leaves my home or I force an end by listing it.

If you purchase a piece from an artist, you are participating in this process -- both in the end of the creation of one piece, and the support of the one which follows it.

Thank you for looking. Have a peaceful day.
