A not so sordid history of 'Sorted
J’ai commencé cette boutique avec l’encouragement de mon mari (alors mon petit ami) à faire quelque chose avec l’artisanat que je fais toujours. J’aime être créatif et essayer de nouvelles choses tout le temps et je suis plus à l’aise quand je fais ou fais quelque chose avec mes mains. J’aime, le fil et le tissu, les couleurs et les textures me fascinent. Je viens d’une longue lignée d’artisans du côté de ma mère, donc je suppose que c’est dans le sang.
Même sans la boutique, je ferais et ferais des choses constamment, mais c’est un bon endroit pour partager mon obsession de l’artisanat avec le monde entier et montrer ma créativité. Au-delà de la capacité de m’exprimer, l’artisanat m’a également fourni un moyen d’aider à renforcer le revenu de mon mari et de mon mari pendant les périodes de vaches maigres.
Quant au nom de la boutique... J’adore les jeux de mots, et apparemment je me suis marié dans une famille de pécheurs car chaque réunion de famille comprend au moins un ou deux exemples de jeux de mots dignes de gémissements. J’ai choisi le nom parce que je voulais un magasin qui me permettrait de créer de nouvelles choses et d’expérimenter à volonté afin de pouvoir fournir des articles assortis et divers au public, et comme je vis avec quelqu’un avec un TOC, je me rappelle constamment que toutes les choses doivent aussi avoir un certain ordre. C’est ainsi qu’est né 'Sorted Sundries..
I started this shop with the encouragement of my husband (then my boyfriend) to do something with the crafts I'm always making. I like to be creative and try new things all the time and I'm more comfortable when I'm doing or making something with my hands. I love, yarn and fabric, the colors and textures fascinate me. I come from a long line of crafters on my mother's side so I guess it's in the blood.
Even without the shop I'd be doing and making things constantly, but this has been a good place to share my obsession with crafts with the world at large and show my creativity. Beyond the ability to express myself, crafting has also provided me with a way to help bolster my husband's and my income during lean times.
As to the name of the shop... I love puns, and apparently I married into a family of punners as every family get together includes at least one or two instances of groan-worthy word play. I chose the name because I wanted a shop that would allow me to create new things and experiment at will so I could provide Assorted and Sundry items to the public, and as I live with someone with OCD I have a constant reminder that all things must have some order to them, too. Thus 'Sorted Sundries was born..
