About

From Hobby to Small Business

I honestly dont remember how old I was when I first started making jewelry. It did start with making my own beads out of clay with my mom. Taking those homemade beads and stringing them on leather cord. After this, my mom and I began our bead collection. We would make jewelry and hair barrets with beads and shells from the beach. Until a few years ago, I would pull the beads out from time to time, make a few things and put the beads back. After coming home from college I started making jewelry on a regular basis, giving necklaces away as presents and making jewelry for myself. I had quite a bit of inventory built up, so a friend and myself decided to have a table at the local Christmas Bazaar. At the bazaar a friend told me about Etsy, and that I should really look into it. So I did, and here I am!

Inspiration really is everywhere, from my home town, the beaches that I walk, to the beads themselves. When I find an awesome piece of driftwood on the bead, a mobile is made with it as soon as it is dried out. Getting beads is my biggest inspiration when it comes to making jewelry. When I buy new beads, I could spend days in my bead room, creating away.

Creating custom pieces for people is also one of my favorite things about etsy. Being able to make something that is specific to that person, makes it so special to the creater and to the person getting the piece.

I live in small town in Southeast Alaska, where inspiration is never a problem! There are so many great things about living in Alaska, but my favorite is walking the beaches and finding the treasures the ocean has washed up onto them.
