Me and my SouthernBabies

Welcome to my little etsy shop.
SouthernBabies was named after my 2 girls, Emily and Ella. I wanted to name the shop after my two girls but could not decide on a name that when combining their names (even middle names) gave me something I liked. But I kept coming back to the name Southern and then I added Babies for my 2 babies and no matter how old they will get or I, they will always be my Babies. Oh and the fact that We live on the Gulf Coast helps too so I have SouthernBabies :)

My love for sewing began when I was about 11 years old and in Girl Scouts. I sewed a pillow for Mother's Day for my Mom. She still has it to this day in a rocking chair in the corner of her bedroom. My Grandmother also taught me to sew and would give me fabric scraps to play with. I stopped sewing for many many years but after I had Emily, my first born, in October 2003, I purchased a sewing machine and set out to make dresses for her. Well a friend then wanted one and her friend and so forth and that is how my first website was created, from a simple A-Line dress and word of mouth.

SouthernBabies specializes in custom handmade creations such as children's clothing, gifts and baby items and more. Sizes range from 0 months all the way up to a girls size 14. I also create matching doll clothes as well as items for Tween/Teens and Moms alike.

I have designed 2 patterns thus far, the Candy Corn Cutie and the Saturday Afternoon Tea Party Dress and I have more in the works. My drafting skills, I am working on to perfect so while I do that, I just keep my notebook full until I am ready to put them all down in a workable format. I also aspire to be a fabric designer as I love fabric and textiles and everything there is to love about it. So hopefully one day I will see my name on the selvage edge of a yard of fabric and wouldn't that be exciting to cut into and sew into a lovely garment for SouthernBabies? I think so too.

**** Even though Etsy has inserted a "need by date" option that does not reflect my work load. If you have a deadline please ask before putting yours in to be fair to other customers. I am working as quickly as I can and will get them out as soon as possible. You may receive item before that time too ****

Please note for custom work, I cannot start orders until the item is purchased and payment is complete including e-checks and personal checks. If you have a deadline remember your order will fall in line upon the date the transaction was complete. Please allow me plenty of time to create your item.

Sizing Information
When ordering custom items, especially for pageants, please send measurements or email/convo me to discuss your order details.

If there are no measurements sent or I ask for them and you don't send them, then the item(s) will be created in a standard size according to the size you requested. If the item does not fit properly, no returns for alterations will be allowed as it is your responsibility to ensure that the item(s) will fit your child properly according to their measurements and size required.

Items needed in in 9 days or less are considered RUSH items and a $30.00 non-refundable Rush fee will apply to your order. Please add the RUSH Item Fee listing to your cart when checking out or check with me and I can invoice you through PayPal.
Shipping
Note from the US Postal Service- Please note that the Delivery Confirmation # is not a tracking # and is only mandatory that the US Postal Service scan it upon Delivery. If you do not see your package scanned into the system, do not worry as this is what the issue is. It is up to the destination or processing sort facilities if they scan the package or not into their system while the package is in route.

Please allow 2-8 weeks for your items to be created. If you need your order by a certain date, please let me know in the comment section when checking out or by sending me a convo or email so that I am sure to get your item(s) to you on time.
Shipping Overages will be refunded. So if you check out and know that your order is shipping in a Flat Rate Priority envelope for $5.95 and you pay more than that, we will refund your shipping overages when processing your order.

Pageant Items will ship in a Medium Flat Rate Box for $12.95

Rush Shipping/Express Shipping (1-2 days) varies by zip code but flat rate is $44.50
Refunds and Exchanges
All custom items, holiday themed items, pageant items are non returnable non refundable.

CANCELLED ORDERS WILL RESULT IN A CANCELLATION FEE.

ALSO, sometimes the measurements you send are not the same as the size that the child is currently wearing. In this case, it is suggested that you go with the size that your child is currently wearing. Please also note that Custom Boutique clothing sizing runs a bit differently than store bought clothing. So sizing may not be "true" to what your child normally wears. For example- legs may be wider, ruffles may be fuller, lengths may be longer, etc.

Pre-Ordered fabric" Once the fabric order has been placed with the warehouse and the order has been paid for through the warehouse, you may not cancel your order. Pre-orders are just that, and are treated just like custom created clothing items.
Additional policies and FAQs
I do not have a physical shop/store front as I work out of my home. I do not allow people to come pick up items from my home but will gladly meet you in a public place if you live locally or will be passing through the area and only during daylight hours. Shipping will still apply to your order (as it costs gas and time to go and meet for a local pick up)

Local Pick Ups:
I am available for local pick ups but only during daylight hours and only at the designated place listed below. I will meet you at the corner of University Blvd. and Ziegler at the Chevron Gas Station only at our designated time for pick up.

If you are going to be late for our pick up, please call me and let me know. I will only wait 10 minutes. If you have not arrived then I will ship your items to you instead and will not reschedule another local pick up time.


*** Custom Listings for Fabric need to be paid within 3 days of request made (unless otherwise agreed upon ) or listing will deleted or passed on to a customer in need of that/those particular items.

**Clothing creations that are READY to SHIP or SHOP SAMPLES will not be held longer than 24 hours while awaiting payment.
