3 out of 5 starsThis is a cute activity that arrived fast. However, there are numerous miniatures that I, as an eadult, didn’t even know. Just to name a few: A model of the ASL symbol for “I love you” for the letter i (if I, as an adult, had to look this up how would a very emergent reader know this?), the symbol for infinity, a white ice cream cone that is supposed to symbolize “vanilla” (children will just say ice cream without thinking of the specifics of flavor) and an odd speech bubble with an ellipsis that is supposed to symbolize “question,” even though it doesn’t have a question mark or anything symbolizing that. Furthermore, the font proves to be problematic because letters can easily be confused. For example, my son thought the uppercase i was a lowercase l, as they look identical. This has complicated ideas for such a young audience.
