About

Spin WIthin Yarns, There and Back Again

Once a California girl moved to the Rockies just north of Aspen, CO and began a journey into motherhood, autism and the fiber arts that would see her though.
Spin Within Yarns began in a little Victorian cottage when I finally realized the art yarn I loved making and stashing were virtually taking over my life....and house.
I began knitting when my daughter was in the NICU many moons ago and that art helped me through stress like nothing else could. I learned to spin the coveted art yarn I saw each week at my LYS so I could knit with it all the time. I became obsessed with color, texture and the ability to create any yarn out of my imagination. As a California girl in CO, the long winters would pass much more gracefully along with the soft click of my spinning wheel and knitting by the fireplace.

I began Spin Within Yarns with a dream to be able to work from home so I could care for my daughter with autism full time and still bring in the little extra income needed. I was off to a great start and loved selling my yarns to artists in other countries. It tickled me to think someone in the UK was walking around wearing my designer yarn!

Then....life changed dramatically. After a rough divorce and relocation I am back again at my wheel and can feel the creative drive flowing again. It took a year of rebuilding to be able to launch Spin Within Yarns again from the West Coast. We are located in the beautiful Bay Area of California and although I do miss the sound of snow lightly falling on my roof, I am now close to family and my artistic circle of friends that lend their support and energy to my creative projects.

When I am spinning I work in a wonderland of props, costumes, color and magic. I am a cast member of a local magic company and my workspace can become pretty interesting. Spin Within Yarns are used in our costumes, wigs and illusions and it makes me so happy to collaborate with Majinga's Magique Bazaar here in San Jose, CA.

I'm now passing on my arts to my daughter and son. They are such great students and I will post their creations and progress as Spin Within Yarns moves into a bright future.
