Great pattern, easy to follow, even for someone just learning how to read a pattern.

About

Spincycle Yarns...

Spincycle Yarns is a two-woman operation established in 2004. Rachel and Kate produce luxurious yarns, hand-dyed and spun into small batches of perfection. We use local fibers as well as luxurious, sustainable fibers from across the globe. Each of our handspun skeins is dyed and spun in our tiny, fuzzy studio, with a (narrow) view of Bellingham Bay!

We spinsters are two self-taught, DIY fiber mavens who found each other after landing, independently and quite accidentally, in The City of Subdued Excitement, also knows as Bellingham, Washington. Kate found home here after a road trip from Ohio that was abruptly but fortuitously halted by the exhaustion of her gas money. Rachel hitchhiked from her home state of Mississippi out to California, but was pulled further and further north by the increasingly green and lush scenery - and the near absence of mosquitos! Both of us came out west with just the bare necessities, which somehow included a spinning wheel each. One short conversation - in the bulk isle of the food coop - later, Spincycle Yarns was born. Now, nine years later, our tendencies toward wanderlust are somewhat tempered by motherhood and urban homesteading responsibilities, but we still love this job!

Our handspun yarns and original knitwear designs have been featured in Spin Off, Stitch n' Bitch 2007 calendar, Intertwined by Lexi Boeger, Knit.Wear, Vogue Knitting, BUST, and knitty.com (four times!). Knitwear designers who have featured our yarns include Ann Weaver, Andrea Rangel, Myrrhia Resneck and Stephen West.

Kate and Rachel are the hardest working spinsters in town. When not dyeing, designing or spinning yarns, they are probably sleeping. They reside in Bellingham, Washington, with their respective husbands, children and chickens.

Hello and welcome to our Etsy store!

We spinsters are otherwise known as Kate Burge and Rachel Price. We kettle-dye and handspin yarns for knitting and crocheting. We use only natural fibers and non-toxic, professional dyes. Our yarns are super-soft and are spun in a wide range of weights for any project. We also design and sell knitwear patterns that are compatible with our yarns.

We are a two-woman operation, and we have our hands on every stage of the process. We buy fleeces (locally, as much as possible) or roving from the greenest farms we can, scour and dye each batch, then spin the yarns on our spinning wheels. We design our own knitwear patterns, and we even screen print our t-shirts ourselves. Everything is done is our tiny studio in downtown Bellingham.

Additional policies and FAQs
We are happy to discuss custom colorways. Just convo us, but remember that dyeing is not like painting. We have some control over shades and blending, but there will be surprises.

We use Jacquard acid dyes. These are lightfast, non-toxic dyes. However, with brighter colors, there may be a slight loss of color in the rinse water.

For questions regarding the origin of the fibers, see our FAQ page here: http://www.spincycleyarns.com/faq/

Thanks very much for knitting with our kettle-dyed and handspun yarns!
