About

Welcome to Spinning Wheel Studio on Etsy!

I stumbled upon Etsy in 2009 when a friend suggested I sell a pair of mittens I knit from my handspun yarns here... Those mittens sold within a week and, to my surprise, I had some requests for my handspun yarn. I had no idea handspun yarn was an item people other than me wanted! Within months I was a business woman, running a busy, busy handdyed, handspun yarn shop and loving every minute of it!

My colorful studio is my favorite place on earth! Shelves of my hand dyed wools and other fibers, pretty threads, completed yarns, racks of yarns drying.... a feast for the eyes! I typically divide my time between dyeing and blending fibers, spinning fibers and running the business (photographing, listing, shipping, promoting, etc). My little yorkie Chloe keeps me great company in all these endeavors!

Payment
I now accept credit cards through Etsy's Direct Checkout as well as PayPal and appreciate immediate payment with your purchase. If for some reason that is not possible, please contact me and we will work something out.
Shipping
I ship packages Monday through Friday (occasionally on Saturdays) and try to get your yarn to you as quickly as possible! I ship USPS first class with online package tracking or Priority in the US if that works out to be more cost effective. If you need your item sooner please let me know and we'll figure it out. :) You will receive an email from me via Etsy notifying you that your package has shipped and providing you with the tracking number.

A word about international orders -- I do pay the entire shipping fee plus fill out a 'customs form' at my post office. Depending on where you are, you may then be assessed a customs tariff/duty tax in order to have your package delivered. Please note that this fee is the buyer's responsibility. It is also worth noting that packages held in customs can take considerably longer for delivery. If your package has left the US and you have not yet received it, chances are good that's where it is - it's worth checking with your local post office.

Please double check your shipping address! I will ship to your Etsy shipping address. If you use PayPal please be sure the address matches your Etsy address.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want happy customers! Please convo me before you purchase if you have any questions. Note the yardage and weight/WPI of your yarn to be sure it is enough/appropriate for the project you have in mind. I do my best to take accurate photos so you are not unpleasantly surprised when you open your package, but monitors vary and I am not a photographer. :) Again, send me a convo or an email if you have any questions! If you receive an item that is not what you had hoped, please let me know right away. If you then return it immediately and in original condition, I will refund you minus the shipping cost.
Additional policies and FAQs
I would love to fill your custom request! Don't hesitate to ask! Many of my yarns are one-of-a-kind, but occasionally I can reproduce a yarn. I am also happy to dye/card/spin according to your needs to create just the right type and amount of yarn for your special project.

I'm often asked to 'reserve' a skein for a customer until they are able to purchase and pay for their yarn. I am happy to reserve yarn for regular customers in good standing once it has been listed in my shop for 24 hours. I ask only that you please let me know, via convo, at the time of the reserve request, when you will be returning to make your purchase. If you haven't purchased by that date I will send you a friendly reminder. If the item is still unpurchased I will remove the 'reserve' from the listing heading, but, OF COURSE, you are still welcome to come buy 'your' item as long as it remains available! Once an item is reserved I do budget accordingly, so am depending on the reserved item to sell on its reserve date... I appreciate your assistance in this! :)

And I always love to see what you are making with "my" yarns -- please email or convo me and send along a photo!!

I am happy to wind your skeins into center pull balls before shipping. Just let me know with a message at check out.

I include a free lavender sachet with each yarn order (let me know at check out if you'd rather not receive one).
