Announcement   Everything here is made of our own design, with our own hands, in our home shop.
A husband and wife collaboration, These table legs grew from a dinner napkin sketch that she made.

The legs,
These unique modern table legs are made of 1/4" cold steel round bar formed and tig welded into a spiral cone ending at a 1-1/2" diameter solid steel ball.
Made with my own hands in small numbers in Ventura CA, They are very sturdy and can support a heavy table. Black powder coat finish, suitable for Indoor or Outdoor Use.

The Benches,
A bench is a structural organism that must withstand varied and sometimes large dynamic loads, it should be strong enough to handle anything that life has to throw at it, yet not so heavy that it cannot easily be moved from room to room.
To accomplish this I decided to take an engineered approach and build these benches as stressed skin panels. A stressed skin panel is a ridiculously efficient engineered scheme, where all of the structural material is placed where it is in either compression or tension.
I can't begin to tell how pleased we are with the result, these benches are crazy strong, note the photo of an un-upholstered bench with more than a thousand pounds of gravel stacked on top of it! Furthermore this substantial savings in mass is all in the bench top, giving the bench a lower center of gravity, which is always a nice thing. Indeed with about half the weight in the legs, I feel that we have struck the perfect balance, the bench feels very solid but not the least bit top heavy. We keep a 47-inch bench at the foot of our bed that gets pressed into service at the dining table every saturday night.

I ordered our bench over the weekend and it arrived that following Thursday. The bench is beautiful. Looks just as pictured online, and is very well constructed. I will definitely be purchasing from them again. Also. I can't say enough about their customer service. I received notice that the item had shipped, was furnished a tracking number, and I was blown away when the bench arrived and I realized that the company had also included a screwdriver so that we could attach the legs to the bench. All sellers in the U.S. should be this thoughtful and meticulous.

I purchased 3 legs for a DIY bench project. Came out exactly as planned. Legs are beautiful and sturdy. They were well packaged. They completed my vision for a fabulous bench!!

About

Often what I want doesn't exist, so I build it.

back in 2005 or so I was all about making these concrete tables
I needed ideas for steel table legs and Silvia quickly sketched out a spiral cone atop a ball onto a dinner napkin.
I said Holy Crap that's perfect!!! or something to that effect, stunning, sturdy, modern, what's not to love!

From an old sprocket, some pipe fittings, a couple of bearings and some round bar, I built a cone shaped mandrel with a crude hand crank, powered for the first prototype by my nephew, who was quickly replaced by an electric motor

this is a manufactured product, but on a micro scale
I make each leg with my own hands in our home shop

The benches are brand new, I have been thinking of these for years, and working on and perfecting the process for the last six months or so.
Not simple wooden slabs, the bench tops are actually stressed skin panels, which is an incredibly efficient engineered shape. Reasonably light in weight, yet crazy strong, note the photo of an un-upholstered bench with over a thousand pounds of gravel in 50lb sacks stacked on it!
The initial offering consists of these three sizes, 36" 47" and 59" length

I have been taking things apart and repairing or just seeing what makes them tic, since I was a child. I marvel at the physical world around me and and am always seeking ways to improve it.
