I absolutely *love* my vegan "pleather" medicine pouch!! =) First of all, I was surprised by how soft and supple the artificial leather is...it's beautiful and very comfortable to wear...awesome!! =) Sandra communicated with me every step of the way as she created my custom order. =) I thoroughly enjoyed selecting the charms and beads to adorn my bag. Sandra made creating something very special, meaningful, and personal a truly lovely experience!! =) Sandra, I can't thank you enough!! I adore this beautiful pouch!! Thank you for everything!! =)

About

This Shop Offers Balms For The Spirit

My training is in the healing Arts and Sciences, and in particular, in Psychophysiology, Neuropharmacology, and Clinical Psychology. I completed a Ph.D. at the University of Southern California in 1997, after having worked in a myriad of settings as a Registered Nurse for a dozen years. I am also an ordained and licensed Minister. My life journey has led me to appreciate complementary approaches to health and wellness.

My family legacy includes Cherokee ancestry, but I am not on any tribal rolls. I recently found my face in U.S. Government National Archives, on a Kiowa (a Plains tribe) named White Bear (aka Satanta), of all places. How can I look so much like this particular individual and not share some genetics? Coyote (a trickster) is always a possibility and it was great fun to find anyway. So I thank coyote, and the U.S. Government for recording and saving that photograph. I hope their archives will be preserved indefinitely.

Having captured my attention, I did some research (among U.S. Government Free Access Records, e.g., The Handbook Of Texas) and found an amazing story about White Bear and his cohorts, and that research is presented in a set of notecards that opened my online ETSY shop—biographies of four Kiowa chiefs (including White Bear) --decisions they made, how they lived, and how they died. And the Animal Medicines they relied upon for healing, protection, and good fortune. This introduction to Animal Medicine in turn, led me to focus on Bear Medicine. As a result, my workbook was created from bear's intuitive right-brain perspective, which means it cannot entirely make sense to those with left-brain preference. White Bear's father, Red Tipi, was a medicine man and keeper of the Kiowa tribal medicine bundle. It is good to honor our ancestors, no matter what our culture.

"Walking, I am listening to a deeper way. Suddenly all my ancestors are behind me. Be still, they say. Watch and listen. You are the result of the love of thousands" (Linda Hogan, Chickasaw Nation).

Buddhism has a nearly identical message of the healing benefits of stillness, called 'compassionate mindfulness,' that Western Psychology has recently adopted as a therapeutic method. And so grows the network--we are all connected.

Tohi (toe-hee), a Tsalagi (Cherokee) blessing meaning
when we are at peace with all around us, that is health.
—Adanvdo Yonv (Spirit Bear).

Welcome to Spirit Bear Creations. All items are made with reverence to the Native American tradition and smudging in the home with cedar, sage, sweet grass, and other traditional herbs is done fairly often. The home is otherwise nonsmoking. There is a beloved German Shepherd living here so be warned if you are allergic.

Payment
This shop accepts Paypal and money orders (within the US). Your personal information is strictly confidential. All items are shipped via US postal service as soon as payment is confirmed and delivery confirmation is included in your costs, where available. Items are packed carefully but if damage or loss should occur in shipping, item will be replaced (exceptions entirely at discretion of proprietor--for example, if your delivery address is not secure, I will refuse to send a replacement item to the same address). Items are personal and may not be returned but please convo me if you are unhappy with your purchase so we can try to remedy the situation.

Proprietor may refuse service to anyone, at anytime, without question or discussion.
Shipping
My goal is to keep your shipping costs as low as possible. I will combine shipping costs for multiple items where possible. If I've overestimated your shipping costs, I will refund the overcharge (if it is more than a dollar or two).

If delivery confirmation shows your package as delivered to you (but you didn't receive it), you must send me a copy of your completed 'nondelivery' form from your local post office (essentially reporting the loss for the record), in order to request a refund. I will not send a replacement item in such an instance.
Refunds and Exchanges
Solely at my discretion.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am happy to ship directly to a giftees address--convo me. If you'd like a gift card included, just ask and leave a note of what you'd like the gift card to say.

International shipping is fine but buyer must assume cost.
