Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

Prints, paintings, and textiles are best kept out of direct sunlight, away from moisture, and should always be handled with clean hands when taken out of any packaging.

I use acid-free paper and high quality inks for my relief prints, ensuring longevity to the work. Your prints have been sent in a red-cyclable plastic sleeve to prevent the piece getting wet in transit, and with rigid board to prevent bending.

When framing your prints, consider the difference glass or plastic fronted frames will make, and ensure your hook/nail is securely placed.

What is a relief print?

A relief print is a form of printmaking (including woodcut, letterpress, linocut, and stamping) where ink is applied to the surface of a block, and then transferred onto another surface using pressure (applied by hand or a from of manually operated press).

My relief prints are all designed and carved by me into lino, and hand printed using the 'spoon method' onto paper. I use smooth European hot-pressed acid-free paper or Japanese Hosho paper for my designs.

Prints may either be open edition (meaning there may be unlimited prints pulled of that design while the block lasts), or limited edition (meaning a finite number of a design or colour variation will be printed). A limited run of prints will have a number visible, such as 3/50.
