I don't typically leave a a lot of reviews, but I was really wowed by this dress and transaction! I placed my order Tuesday morning, and received it here in LA by Thursday afternoon. The dress was lovingly packaged with a handwritten note, and was in flawless condition -- even more beautiful than the photos. I look forward to buying from here again.

Sprightly Vogue's Origins

Luanne grew up in the 60s and 70s and wore many of the styles of vintage clothing we have in the shop. She remembers going to the Jessica Mcclintock outlet store and even purchased her bridesmaid dresses there. She kept some of her Gunnies for Sarah to play dress up and that was the beginning of Sarah’s love of vintage. Sarah’s grandma kept her vintage hats and that was another source of vintage love.

Luanne and Sarah started vintage shopping in 2011 and had so much fun finding clothing and accessories to wear and collect . After 2 years of shopping, they decided to share their love of vintage with Etsy shoppers. They bought a lot of “lemons” at first but slowly have developed an ability to spot the hidden gems. They shop all around the Puget Sound area and look for clothing and accessories that are stylish and wearable.

Sarah and Luanne also enjoy using vintage clothing for costuming. They just spent a wonderful weekend in Port Townsend at The Brass Screw Confederacy Steampunk Festival. They enjoyed making their costumes from vintage clothing and sewing original designs.

Keep in mind that these clothes are 20+ years of age and have been worn and loved before. Each vintage item is unique and there may be minor imperfections or smells. Although we carefully inspect each item multiple times with a bright light and make note of any flaws, we may miss insignificant ones or imperfections that are common in garments of a particular time. Colors may vary due to computer monitors. All items are stored in a very clean home that is smoke-free, but not pet-free (two dogs). The clothes are stored in a room that the dogs are not allowed in.

We will not sell anything that has a strong smell or is dirty. In order to keep costs down, to preserve the condition of the garments, and in consideration of those with chemical sensitivities, they are not dry cleaned, unless otherwise noted in the listing. We give everything a "sniff test" to make sure there are no odors. We launder most any item we can and always try to gently remove stains and repair small issues.

Prices are adjusted according to the condition of the item.

Mint: very rare, like-new or new with tags attached

Excellent: complete in condition and appearance and well cared for, but may have very minor flaws consistent with light or occasional wear that are not noticeable at all. We are careful to note all flaws even tiny ones.

Very good: Gently used condition. Wearable and in complete condition and appearance, but with some small flaws that are not noticeable.

Good: wearable, but with some flaws that are noticeable and may not be able to achieve excellent condition even with repairs

Fair: numerous flaws, wearable after repair
Additional policies and FAQs

Vintage sizes are very different from current sizes!

The white female mannequin we use for most womens' items is a 34" bust, 26" waist, 35" hip and is six feet tall. The dress form is adjustable and its measurements vary.

The white male mannequin has a 36" chest, 28" waist, and 14.5" neck and is six feet two inches tall.

Garments are measured on a flat surface and doubled when necessary. Please carefully check the measurements against your own measurements and it can be helpful to compare the measurements to a similar garment that fits you well. Be sure to allow some room for comfort and movement.

For some dresses that are more difficult to fit we also fit on a dress form and provide a range of measurements the dress would best fit and some added sizing suggestions. We try to provide as much information as possible about not only the measurements of a garment but how it should fit as well. If we say a measurement is "up to" a certain number it means that it will fit someone who has that measurement or smaller, depending on how you would like it to fit.
