About

Bringing old things new life

I'm an enthusiastic antique-er and thrifter, and love things even more when I can put them to use. Glassware is one of those things I probably have too much of cluttering my cabinets, but I still think about buying them when I'm at an antique or thrift store. After learning how to acid etch, I wanted to combine function with the beauty of this technique and I ended up with lamps!

The lamps are all built to complement the shape of the glass and to be as responsible as possible. Each design for the etching starts with the form of the glass, and every lamp shade is picked to balance the base of the lamp. Even drilling the hole in the glasses can require a different set up if the lamp is an uncommon shape. Most of the lamps are made with found wood, each glass has been previously used and the wood is protected with an environmentally safe, water-based finish. These lamps stem out of my desire to create something that works, is beautiful, and is responsible.
