Bloom where you are planted

My name is Rowena Graham. I'm a stay at home mom to a 3 year old girl. I'm a Registered Dental Assistant and I had previously worked in private dental offices. I was born and raised in the Philippines by amazing parents who taught me to work hard and pursue my dreams. I didn't have much stuff growing up but I had a lot of passion to achieve what I wanted in life. I strongly believed that education combined with hard work was a sure route to lift myself out from poverty. Part of the profit I make on this shop goes to a child whom I sponsor in the Philippines, helping her to get an education and eventually a better future!

I live in Los Angeles, California. I'm married to a wonderful guy who I think is the best thing that ever happened in my life. We are blessed with an amazing daughter after 8 long years of trying. Life is really full of surprises and the best thing about a surprise is that it comes when it is least expected.

Being a mother is both a challenge and a blessing. I also found myself struggling to fill some idle hours. One day my next door neighbor invited me to a craft fair she held in her backyard. For the first time in my life I saw so many beautiful handcrafted items made of variety of materials. I was intrigued to learn how to sell homemade crafts on the Internet. I learned about ETSY and was excited about the possibilities. I was joyful with the thought that I could earn income doing what I loved to do. I know in my heart that this is what I'm looking for and definitely an answer to my prayer.

As a child, I saw my mom working hard, making and selling anything she can think of to earn some extra income. With that example, I always dreamed to own a small business. I think ETSY has been given me an opportunity to live that dream.

Right now, I have my own little studio at home. I love to be in this room because I feel like I'm a different person. For me, this is a special place where I'm free to explore, imagine, create, and the fun part is I know I'm living my dream. I can be messy and disorganized sometimes, especially when I'm working on something that requires a lot of details and intricate design. The good thing is there are no rules when it comes to creating something from the heart.

I love to sew. I like the feel of the texture on different fabric. My creativity flows whenever I hold a fabric in my hand and imagine what can I do to create something beautiful out of these materials. Aside from sewing, I also love flowers, especially the wild ones. Whenever I see one, I always imagine how and why this little thing manages to look beautiful in spite of its harsh conditions.

My inspirations comes from the combination of my love for fabric and flowers. So, the result is the birth of StacieRowie shop. I want my products to be special so I decided to focus on wedding accessories. With this in mind, I know somewhere out there, a beautiful bride is wearing my creations on her special day and this is enough reason to put a big smile on my face.
