I am a printmaker and I create images using Old School techniques. I use sharp japanese tools to carve fine lines into soft surfaces, or draw scratchy lines into sheets of copper, zinc and plexiglass. I roll thick sticky messy ink onto these etched surfaces with a tool called a brayer and print those inked images onto clean crisp beautiful sheets of handmade papers with the help of a hand cranked Etching Press. This is my passion. I am very very grateful that I am able to indulge in this most serious and important work of PLAY.
I have recently begun adding watercolor paintings to my shop. These paintings are studies for future printmaking projects as well as images I may someday use in a book [a big dream of mine.] Often I will make multiples of these paintings, although each is uniquely created, using colors I've chosen in the moment.

I adore Coco's work. I had this in my cart for a long time and was so excited to pull the trigger on it! Arrived perfectly. This reminds me so much of my sister right before she'd stomp out of the room after an altercation with me...not sure why that warms my heart, but it does!

This item is going to be a special gift! It will be perfect once I get it framed with appropriate matting. Thank you very much - the print has tremendous personality! Patricia

About

"Genius is childhood recovered at will" Charles Baudelair

When I awakened to the notion that I wanted to be an artist when I grew up, I was a single parent with two kids and well into my thirties.
With the day to day survival of our little family my primary concern, I shelved the artist notion and made a promise to myself that if made it into my old age, I would spend those years seriously creating art.
When I turned 50, I did take the leap every artist eventually feels compelled to take and made the art making my priority.I am presently more committed than ever to producing my work and it is different in every way from the work I thought I'd be producing. I had visions of large abstract canvases...with colors and complexities akin to Philip Guston or Howard Hodgkins. Indeed, I set out on this path and then one day was compelled to change my tack. I look at my current work and am mystified. My work entails much drawing and most often has comic figures and obscure narratives, obscure even to me.
I am convinced that the person making this art is my six year old self who used to spend hours in the library reading books on how to make little people out of acorns. The six year old me who would awaken every morning literally for years determined to build myself a tree house in our yard but never having the materials or tools or knowledge or freedom to pull it off.
The promise to my older self made in my 30's and 40's is really a promise to my six year old self. The old lady procures the materials for the kid. She sets up the workspace, puts out the papers and inks and tools and gives the kid permission to make a mess beyond belief and then she cleans it all up afterwards.

Shipping
I will try to ship all orders within 3 business days and I always appreciate a brief email to let me know your purchase has arrived safely AND that you like it...[ hopefully you love it! ]
Dear International Customers,
I love sending my work to other countries!
Shipping prices may seem prohibitive but I've tried to "round down" the actual shipping costs by shipping larger prints carefully rolled instead of flat. [I recommend that customers unroll the print and set it flat as soon as it arrives.]
Please know that, by law, I am required to mark all customs forms with the actual purchase price and I ask that the buyer be responsible for any duties or tariffs charged by his/her country.
Refunds and Exchanges
I think most artists would feel very uncomfortable if they thought that someone who bought their work really didn't like it. I appreciate that sometimes it may be difficult to know that you really love a piece of art until you see it in person. I will gladly refund the purchase price of any print. I only ask that you return the piece in the condition it was shipped and also that you accept the return shipping costs.
