Announcement   Shining Litha is a concept store developed from my personal style. It is a mix of earthship aesthetics, 1970s/80s modernism and ancient civilizations, sprinkled with a little Laura-Ashley-style country and Burning Man tribalism. Vintage and handmade both live here as I seek to bring forth the world that burns within me.

These earrings are just gorgeous! They are so well crafted and surprisingly light weight on the earl. They look exactly as pictured and are truly flattering to the face when worn! ;-)

About

The past is the future

In this story of the future we begin in the past; 5 years ago. A near-fatal car accident destroys my entire world, and after a long dark journey of grief, trauma and pain, I begin the process of healing. In reaching for the light, I began to rebuild, determined to the 'best version of me yet'. I went back through my life, cleaning out 'dead wood', reclaiming those elements of myself I felt the most authentic - using my past to build my future.

In doing so I found myself repeatedly returning to the 1980s, where I was happiest - as a teenage geek. I re-discovered my passion for concept art and an imaginary ancient culture of my own invention - stories I started in my teenage years and have since built upon. Everything I do here in Shining Litha is imagined as being a part of that same world. Modern and ancient, man made and natural, science and magic. It draws a thread between my past and future, ourselves and our ancestors, our technology and our Gods.

Shining Litha is a concept store, bringing forth a vision within me. I am forever interested in the parallels of ancient culture and science technology. I see science and technology develop where myth and magic came before; scientists discover things that ancient men already knew and we put our faith in technology to a degree level with Gods.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." - Arthur C. Clark

Materials such as wood, clay, iron and paper are elementally basic and connect to our first moments of man's world on earth, while salvaged materials give a post-apocalyptic edge, bridging a gap between here and the distant past and connecting with ancestors on the way. True to the new age foundation there is a lot of pastel colour and crystal iridescence!

Through the connection to forefathers and ancestors, from the cradle of civilization to this very moment and beyond; we are all a part of a great journey. Man is a unique species on a unique planet, adrift in an ocean of stars and galaxies as unknown to us now as the new world once was to our forefathers. We journey to the stars and desperately seek new worlds, an effort to preserve our future in those very stars that ancient culture was convinced held the gods. In our distance future where time travel is finally attained, do we close the circle and become the Gods our ancestors saw as real?
