At Starbright Muse fibers, we only use dyes that have a very low impact on our water tables, people and wildlife when used responsibly. All of our dyes either conform to the Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) for Organic Processing, or come from plants I have grown or foraged myself, that require low impact (generally food-grade) preparation.

We ship all US continental orders with UPS' carbon neutral shipping option. You can find more information on that here: https://www.ups.com/us/en/services/sustainability/sustainable-services/carbon-neutral.page

As of January 2020, all of our yarn bases will no longer contain Nylon, which is a petroleum (plastic) product. That way, when your project has served its purpose and finds itself in a landfill, it will decay naturally and not persist to endanger wildlife and people for many years.

Please note that our sparkly yarns DO contain stellina or lurex, which still have some plastic in them.

In addition to popular superwash yarns, we are in the process of acquiring yarn bases with minimal processing that will not leave long-term waste in our landfills. They are coming soon!!

For any questions related to our environmental standards feel free to contact us at fibers [!at] starbrightmuse.com, or through Etsy directly.

About StarbrightMuse

Sales 158
On Etsy since 2014

Creating the yarn I want to use, with the environment in mind.

I began knitting in late 2014, and soon became addicted. I finally understood what people meant when they called something in their life a "passion."

It only took me a couple of years to become educated on different fibers, and what yarns I needed to use the create the perfect final garment.

I was in my last semester of college for my Bachelor's degree when I was hired at a small local yarn shop in Plaistow, NH (YarnSong). I loved it so much, I decided to take a risk and not persue another job.

Now, my dream is to be 100% self-employed some day! Thank you so much for visiting my shop- you are helping me to achieve this goal just by clicking.

By shopping here, you are also being kind to the environment.

I only use dyes that have little to no impact on the environment, I waste as little as possible.

All of my paper products, business cards and shipping packages are made from recycled materials. Even the tape I use on them is plant-based and biodegradable.

I ship as many of my orders as possible via UPS with their "carbon neutral" option.

Soon, I will be offering minimally processed wool, and in the slightly more distant future I'm hoping to offer organic cotton and linen as well.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

Yes! I will be more than happy to work with you should you want custom colors or quantities.

Care instructions

Each yarn has its own care instructions. Should you have any questions, refer to each yarn's listing.

I have a very specific color or shade I want to order. Can you help me?

I am always happy to work with you on custom orders. However, keep in mind that each monitor displays color a little differently and when collaborating over the Internet, it is hard to get exact color matches.

If you want to be absolutely certain to get a color you want, you could always mail me something light that is the shade you want.

I also DO accept returns on custom orders as long as they are done within the set time frame (see return policy). Even if you don't think it's beautiful, chances are someone else will! :)
