Starlet Vintage brings you quality, hand selected vintage, sourced from Canada's west coast.

Landing in the big city as a teenager heading for college, exploring my new neighborhood, I discovered tucked away thrift and antique shops with jaw dropping excitement. I was a small town girl from the north coast where vintage was related to cars, period. ( ! )
The amazement I felt then, especially for the antique clothing and textiles, sparked the beginning of my love of vintage and all things beautifully handmade and handcrafted.

Studying pattern making, tailoring, and garment construction, I added fashion history to the mix, and spent weekends on hunting and gathering jaunts for fabric, some turned into OOAK and limited run garments for local boutiques, and clothing I sold to local vintage shops.

Favorites collected during that time became the first stock for the Starlet Vintage brick and mortar shop, a 10 year wonderful journey, just recently let go for the sake of a little more sanity, a little more freedom, and the pleasure of a slower pace, with more focus for my etsy shop.

Aside from the potential for fabulous one-of-kind personal expression, I value and love the ethics of vintage as a beautiful alternative to impossibly cheap garments made at a huge cost to the environment.
A chance to wear a more thoughtful, value-added quality, with built-in history, often a hand made or hand finished piece in a wonderful fabric is the best possible antidote !

Every package shipped from my studio will come to you gift wrapped, professionally and safely packaged, include care instructions, and a coupon code for 15% off your next purchase at Starlet Vintage !

Thanks so much for stopping by !

I hope you enjoy the finds (:

Refunds and Exchanges
Being vintage, and therefore pre-loved, a certain amount of wear might be in evidence, and occasionally an amazing find might have a minor flaw that won't affect wearability. I will make you aware of any imperfections, and anything noticeable will include a photo. The item will be priced accordingly.
Though all sales are considered final returns are reviewed on a case by case basis, primarily only if there was a significant error in the listing. Shipping charges are non-refundable. Returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee. Items from the 1930's and earlier are non-returnable due to their fragile nature.

I take a lot of care to measure all the pieces accurately, please also see "additional information" for measuring and sizing info and guidelines, to be sure your garment fits before you order as I do not accept returns for garments that don't fit. If you are unsure and have a question about the size or appearance of an item, contact me and I will gladly send you more pictures or take additional measurements. It's important to me that you love your StarletVintage purchase!
Additional policies and FAQs
Use a dressmaker’s tape measure, which you can get at your local fabric store.
Measure yourself over the undergarments you plan to wear & not over your clothing.

BUST: measure over the fullest part of your bust while wearing a bra.

UNDERBUST: measure around the fullest part of your ribcage, about midway between your bust and waist.

WAIST: measure around the smallest point of your waist where it naturally curves in.

HIP: Sideseam to sideseam at the hip at fullest point

SLEEVE: Shoulder seam to bottom of sleeve

SHOULDER: from shoulder seam to shoulder seam

It's important to remember that your garment won't be very comfortable, if it's measurements are your exact body measurements, (unless it's stretchy.)
The extra fabric required for comfort is called ease, and ideally you'll want the following amount for a close fitting vintage garment for comfortable fit:

BUST: 1 1/2 "
HIP: 2"

50s and early 60s dresses are often cut to accommodate a girdled waist, if you plan to belt your dress and don't mind a tight waist fit, a zero or negative ease might be appropriate.
Vintage garments were often tailored to fit an individual woman and evidence of seams and darts being taken in or out is not uncommon. For this reason, it is often possible to have a vintage garment altered to fit you if your measurements are off by just a bit. I am happy to answer any questions about available seam allowances, darts, and hem allowances before you purchase.

Please measure yourself carefully, and compare the item to the measurements of something you already own that has a similar cut and fabric and fits you well, as I don't accept returns for items that don't fit.

The LENGTH measurement I give for shoes is always the measurement of the INSIDE sole of the shoe from tip of toe to very back of heel unless otherwise specified.
WIDTH refers to the widest INSIDE measurement at the ball of the foot

see this chart for conversions:

All hats are measured from the inside, around the hat band if there is one.
Try to measure around your own head where the hat depicted in shop sits on the mannequin's head to see if the hat will fit you in the same way.

21" = XS, or Size 6 5/8
21.5" to 21 3/4" = S, or Size 6 3/4 to 6 7/8
22" to 22 1/2" = M, or Size 7 to 7 1/8
22 3/4" to 23" = L, or Size 7 1/4 to 7 3/8
23 1/2" to 24" = XL, or Size 7 1/2 to 7 5/8

If you still have have questions about whether or not that one of a kind vintage piece will fit you, please contact me !
