About

The Story behind the Stefanie A. Schmid Gallery

"Reactions" began in 2008 when I worked for my family’s chocolate store. I made handmade greeting cards and sold over 2,500 of them at that location alone.

I decided on the name "Reactions" when I was walking from the parking lot to a MN Twins baseball game. The sun was gleaming in my eyes, and it just popped in my head~ what do you think of when you look at a greeting card…. You have a reaction! So that stuck with me.

***In 2015, I changed my brand name to the Stefanie A. Schmid Gallery to cover more products.***

I learned to crochet one stitch by a friend of mine, and I continue to use only that stitch. She taught me how to make a chain, not even how to turn around, so all of my products are self-taught, written by myself, and totally unique. I try to use interesting components to my crocheted goods, whether it’s a scarf, headband, or Barbie accessory. I use vintage yarn, Icelandic wool (my heritage), recycled products, and vintage buttons.

My art is so important to me. Each piece holds a place in my heart, and I am really shy and sensitive at art shows. I’ve been featured five times in the Twin Cities at a Midwest-wide exhibit through Urban Arts. My work has been purchased by nation-wide non-profits, politicians, therapy centers, psychologists-- since a lot of my mixed media assemblages and some acrylic paintings are about deeper issues. A book featuring my work on the subject: the stigma of mental illness, is currently being written by a photographer who approached me on the topic in my art.

In February 2015, I was interviewed and published by a local newspaper, The Lowdown, about my artistic style. Later, in the summer of 2015, one of my Native American acrylic paintings was represented on an environmental website. I also have had my products in six stores around the Twin Cities, and I've had two personal art exhibits; one at a brewery in Stillwater, MN and the other at "Art on the Avenue" in St. Paul (popular summer art crawl).

Payment
Please pay via PayPal, credit card, or Etsy Gift Card. After payment, I will ship your product(s) within 1-3 days, and will be in contact with you.
Shipping
I only ship to the United States. I use the USPS for all of my orders. All orders are covered with tracking. Shipping costs cover handling (packaging, bubble, etc.), and the price of the shipping. After shipment, you will receive an email informing you of its departure and the tracking number.

I usually do not do upgrades/speedier shipping to meet special deadlines, unless you are desperate. Please message me.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you would like to return a product, please email immediately upon receiving the item: yourreactions [!at] yahoo.com

You have 5 business days to do so and I will not accept returns after that. Items must come back in full, i.e. pictures with frames must have frame, pictures with easels must have easel. Crocheted items must not have been worn; etc.

If the item is broken, please email me a picture of the broken item for a refund, and we will go from there. I require that you mail it back to me, at your expense; however, this is circumstantial and up to my discretion.

There is no refund on original shipping charges.

All returned shipping fees are the customer's expenses. If the item is damaged greatly (like a porcelain doll, shattered), please contact me immediately and you may not have to return it, but will get your refund, minus original shipping costs.

I am very understanding and easy to work with, so don't hesitate to contact me if you are concerned or have questions!
Additional policies and FAQs
On custom orders, which I rarely do, payment in full, including shipping, is due before I start your order. There are no returns on custom orders. I will post your order under the appropriate category, ie. art, Barbie, crocheted scarves, etc. and title it CUSTOM ORDER. I will also be in heavy communication with you, so you will know how to reach/purchase your order if you are confused.
