When I was a teen, I often worked with my Dad, who was a general contractor. I helped him on many different types of jobs, mostly plumbing and electrical. I learned a lot of useful skills, but never imagined how much I’d really put them to use later on. Fast-forward to November 2014, when I saw a simple lamp made from some electrical parts and some copper water pipe, in a little consignment shop in Western Massachusetts, and thought “Hey, I can make that, only better!”. I started off making an almost exact copy of that lamp, but I added my own “upgrades” like a dimmer instead of a simple toggle switch, and USB charging ports instead of just two AC outlets.

My designs have since evolved into elaborate lamps with iron and copper pipes, and modern conveniences like USB charging ports, dimmers, smartphone cradles, night lights, bottle openers, and AC outlets. I have created over 60 different designs, priced from $79 to $1,299. Some weigh up to 40 pounds and can take up to a month to make. I've made lamps out of fire alarm boxes, volt meters, cast iron valve handles, water meters, and even bird feeders and kitchen faucets! Some lamps feature working clocks, pressure gauges, cast iron valve handles, metal bulb cages, and antique glass insulators. My lamps make great conversation pieces, and there's something for every decor and every budget. Floor lamps, accent lamps, desk lamps, and custom designs and colors are available.

I am often asked where I get all my stuff. One of my favorite sources is the Brimfield Fair, held in south-central Massachusetts, 3 times a year. This massive antique fair features hundreds of vendors from all around the world, and it’s fun to pick up a rusty old gear, or a century-old volt meter, and turn it into a functional conversation piece.
