Cross stitch vinyl records!
About a two years ago I decided to take a chance at a unique art idea.
I have a friend who paints portraits on vinyl records so I thought to myself ‘Maybe I can cross stitch on them?’. To my surprise, it worked!
It took me six hours to poke all of the holes. Six. I was heating up a large embroidery needle with a tea light. I think I went through four tea lights.
I could only poke 3-4 holes at a time. Ugh! Took. For-Ever!
The needle wasn’t going to cut it if I wanted to keep going, so I purchased a soldering iron and got to work again. This time it was a orchid.
Little did I know that even with the soldering iron it took three hours to poke the holes and another 20 or more to cross stitch the whole flower. The result was perfect though!
This was so easy! And that’s when I found out that each vinyl is made different, from year to year and maker to maker.
There is also I big difference between old and new. That should be obvious, but when I started I was using old, scratched and brittle vinyls, but a newer one was so easy to poke the holes and stitch!
