After earning a degree in Anthropology, Sarah decided she wanted to sprinkle the world with her love of all things crafty, and AISC was born.

The Atlanta Institute of Stitches & Crafts was born from a passion for handmade & the empowerment to make something for yourself.

Sarah grew up in a creative household, with a mom that always responded to her desperate shopping mall pleas with "we can make that!". Realizing she wouldn't always get what she wanted in the shops, she took to shadowing her mom during late night sewing sprees to really learn just how to make it all herself. In true apprentice style, she snipped her moms threads, loaded the embroidery hoops, and took on traditional crafts before she knew the bond she was forming with her beloved materials.

After earning her degree in Anthropology (a passion, too!) Sarah was a bit unsure of where to go next. Her love for school was losing a battle for her love of crafting, and she decided to follow her dream to be her own boss, make things she loved everyday, and spend as much time as possible in her sewing room! Now she spends her days scouting out the most beautiful supplies in order to inspire others the way she was inspired.

Shop members

  • Sarah Lodato

Sarah has been sewing for over 10 years, but her love for craft doesn’t stop at fabric. She indulges in paper crafts when she’s not sewing, and has a knack for bypassing patterns and creating things by sight.

  • Nell

Nell has been knitting for over 40 years, and has extensive experience teaching knitting. She has a huge library of patterns she has designed herself, and when she’s not knitting she likes to support the robust artist/crafting community in Atlanta.
