About Stitchified Toys

Each Stitchified toy is a unique companion, handmade by me for the young and young at heart. Lovingly crafted in a small corner of my pet-friendly and non-smoking home, I hope that each toy becomes a beloved friend to someone special in your life.

Stitchified toys are heirloom quality, and made from all natural fibers whenever possible. My favorite fibers include wool, cotton, silk, and leather. On occasion I use man-made materials (particularly for eyes or trim), but any such materials will be noted in the listing.

Stitchified toys are made with careful attention to detail, something you won't find in mass-market toys. Many of the details, like dolls' hair and embroidered embellishments, are sewn entirely by hand with nothing more than a needle and thread. Each toy represents hours (upon hours!) of love and dedication to my craft. However, despite their fine features, Stitchified toys are meant to participate in years of gentle imaginative play. Though I have made these toys to withstand the rigors of childhood, please note that they are not meant to endure rough abuse -- tug of war, swim lessons, and hair cuts should be discouraged.

All Stitchified toys are stuffed with clean carded wool from a domestic mill, which lends warmth and weight to the toy. Wool is temperature regulating, which is a splendid property in a child's toy -- Stitchified toys retain heat when cuddled on cold winter days, but also stay cool and breathable in the heat of summer. Wool also absorbs the familiar smells of home, which makes Stitchified toys reassuring playmates and ideal loveys. Plus, wool is environmentally sustainable, anti-bacterial and stain resistant! Once you've held one of these toys, you'll be a wool convert, too!

About me
I have been a life long believer in the magic of toys. As a little girl I spent enormous amounts of time engaged in lively conversations with my (small army of) stuffed animals. I seem to have passed this trait down to my own children, which is how I ended up creating my first softies a few years ago. I've had entirely too much fun creating for friends and family, and now it's my pleasure share my softies with others!

If I'm not at my day job, or enjoying time with my family of four, you'll find me unwinding at the sewing machine. I am completely obsessed with all things stitchy, and love every minute that I get to create.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

I take on a very limited number of custom orders. Please contact me to discuss availability.

Care instructions

Most stains can be removed by spot-cleaning with soap and warm water, and leaving the toy to air dry.

However, if a toy has a particularly messy adventure, please hand wash in cold water with mild soap and a splash of vinegar (to prevent the yarn dye, if any, from running). After washing, place the toy in a towel and gently squeeze out the water (but do not wring) and allow to air dry. Alternatively, after washing place in the washing machine for a "drain" only spin, and then allow to air dry. He or she may need a little reshaping after the wash before air drying. Yarn hair may be finger combed after drying. Note: Yarn hair may shed fuzz at first, but this will slow down and is to be expected with natural fibers.

Repair Services

I am happy to offer repair services for Stitchified toys that get into trouble (bad haircuts can and do happen!). I can be reached through Etsy, or at StitchifiedToys (at) gmail dot com for a quote.
