About

How did we get here?

My sewing career began in 2002 when I became enthralled with the magic of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. That was it. The moment that started me off to where I am today.

In 2006, my sister and I began working at Renaissance Festivals with my (at the time) small costume booth.

Finally, in 2010, I decided to quit my "day job" and devoted myself full-time to raising my fledgling business. I purchased a wonderful Viking sewing machine, and began learning the intricate ins and outs of design and embroidery. I am a truly self-taught artist, and proud of where I have come from. I am a perfectionist. It has taken countless hours to learn such an artistic trade from many different sources. I have spent years honing my skills and fostering my own creativity. I am always learning, and never shy away from a project that is outside of my comfort zone. It has been a beautiful ride so far, I look forward to bringing Strike Daekins to many great new places in the future!

I am fortunate enough to live in such a creativity-nurturing locale, and even more fortunate to be able to run my own business from home. That way, I can be a full time mother to three beautiful girls, Raven, Robin & Wren.

Additional policies and FAQs
Lastly, but most importantly, I run this business from a home studio. First and foremost, I am a mother to three small children. While I try to make sure that all emails are responded to in a timely fashion, there are times, due to unforeseen circumstances with my children, or, simply because I am away from the studio vending at a Festival, that there might be a delay in my response. I thank you for your patience as I try to handle things behind the scenes. :-)
