About

Connecting You to Times of Exploration and Wonderment

Don began falling in love with all things vintage as a small boy traveling up and down the West Coast of the US. From LA all the way up to Washington state he'd stop off at all matter of small towns. Days were filled exploring old timber and logging areas, abandoned mining towns, ghost towns and deserts all over the West.

Little did he know that all those goodies he discovered would someday be collectible. He just thought they were cool!

Sue is from a long line of collectors and savers. Little in her household was discarded so we are left with a treasure trove of great vintage items from the 40's through the 70's. The listing categories for "Grandpa's Garage" and "Virginia's Attic"are all items from Sue's mom and dad. We have Clair (Sue's dad) to thank for being such a pack rat over the years. As Virginia would get rid of something she thought Clair was taking it to the trash or to Goodwill. It evidently ended up in his garage. Lucky for us he packed it away safely and we've found a treasure trove of things to list for you.

The two of us are also advocates of reusing, re-purposing and recycling. Don't be surprised if your items arrive packed with boxes we received from Amazon or reinforced with recycled cereal boxes or re-purposed cardboard from six-packs of Don's favorite micro-brew. We also pack with recent copies of the LA Times (yes we still take a real newspaper) and like to think our customers all around the world will get a kick seeing what's going on in our neck of the woods. Needless to say, we are always on the lookout for materials we can use again and again to save the planet.

Structure and Spice has also gone solar. About a year ago we decided to invest in the future and had eighteen panels installed on our South facing roof. We've been able to drop our electricity bill to $0 and are planning to use the surplus to charge an electric car in the near future. It will be nice to make our trips to the post office totally free of pollution.

Our hope is that all this will not only help us save energy and pollute less but that this will all fit into our business as well by reducing our cash flow and saving money in our operating costs so we can continue to deliver cool cards, home decor and mid-century collectibles to you at a fair price.

We hope you enjoy all we have to offer and look forward to sharing our unique finds with you as what we discover today takes us back to those times of freedom, exploration and wonderment.

Please join us as we uncover these hidden treasures from the past. We think you'll be glad you came along for the ride!

Warmest Regards,

Don
