There don't seem to be many people making these with actual gears and not just pictures, so I absolutely love these. Each piece is a little different, and it's very obvious in-person that the gears aren't pictures--they catch the light individually. Very beautiful. Love them.

About

Taking paintings to the next level of tiny!!

I graduated with a BFA in drawing painting and printmaking. During my senior year a professor had us attend a lecture by an up and coming artist. I learned that only 2% of graduating artists go to make a career out of it. I know everyone in that room was thinking "I"m going to be part of that 2%"

As I struggled to merge business skills with creative ones, I found it hard to become a sales person to my very large expensive paintings. I've never been very good at selling myself. I hated to turn people down who really loved my work because they couldn't afford it. In turn my paintings started to get smaller and smaller. I settled on the jewelry sized watercolor illustrations because most everyone could afford them and enjoy them everyday as necklaces instead of on a wall! I started going to art festivals and as my business grew I was able to start selling larger paintings. I guess you can say I really started small.

Now I like to give back to the community by sponsoring an animal shelter with every big festival I attend. I really believe art is about helping sustain the community in a truly creative way. The buyers are supporting an artistic society. It's our responsibility to take the money and make more beauty and give back.
