About

Our Story

We are CICADA. Some refer to us as "the Cicada Sisters". We answer to both. We grew up in a small southern town in North Carolina. Inspiration was everywhere. Everyone was a maker. It was just the way of life. Growing up in a handmade home, we had no choice but to be creative. We got it honest. Our mom constantly challenged us to think outside the box. We owe much our success to her. We took every art class available in our small hometown. We entered (and won 1st place) in multiple art completions across the state for nearly a decade. Shirley went on to college with an art scholarship and majored in Graphic Design. She became creative director for the largest newspaper in North Carolina. Dawn is more of a fly by the seat of your pants kind of person. She took graphic design, creative writing, photography and jewelry design classes at her lesiure.

After starting our first jewelry line, we opened and artisan boutique in our hometown. We wanted to not only sale our items, but we wanted to provide a place for local artists to sale their work. We eventually went in separate directions as we each started families of our own (our most challenging creations yet). Dawn focused on jewelry while Shirley focused on digital art. In 2012, we joined forces once more combining our talents to form CICADA, a brand that specializes in original (and sometimes, but not too often, offensive) designs. For the first few years, we focused on strictly tech cases. Our claim to fame was the very first State Love Chevron phone case. From there we formed a fan base of loyal followers who continued to ask for other products featuring our designs. Thanks to their requests and challenges, we have grown our product line to include jewelry, prints, and mugs with lots more ideas in with works.

Payment is expected within 12 hours of purchase. If payment is not received we will attempt to contact you once and if we still do not receive payment we will contact Etsy and cancel the sale.

Please allow 72 hours for production. This means, once your order has been placed and any special requests finalized... it will leave our studio within 72 hours.

We ship all orders inside the US for a flat rate of $4.50. This includes 2-3 day Priority Shipping with Delivery Confirmation. Your delivery confirmation number will be sent to you at the time of shipment and can be tracked at USPS.com

We DO ship international via First Class mail. Please allow up to 14 days for delivery (this varies depending on location)

What type of cases do you offer?
We currently offer iPhone 4/4s, iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S III cases in the following options:

•Plastic cases are made from hard plastic and have a glossy finish. The top and bottom of your phone will be exposed with this case. There are openings for your camera, buttons and inputs.
•Silicone Rubber cases have a matte finish and wraps around the front edges of the iPhone. Your buttons are covered but there is an opening for your camera and inputs.
•Our cases fit Sprint, Verizon or At&T Phones

*Please keep in mind that the white silicone case absorbs everything. This includes stains and even the dye from your jeans. We have found that Simple Green cleaner does and excellent job at keeping it clean.

Can I change the color of the design?
Absolutely!! When you checkout please leave a note to seller with all your changes. If you have a specific color in mind you can send me the CMYK or Pantone name. If you do not know the name then convo me with a photo and I can match it for you.

I love the monogram design but I would rather have it without my initials?
No problem! Just leave a note to seller that reads NO MONOGRAM when you checkout. Keep in mind we will not send a proof on these orders unless you request them.

I haven't received notification of shipping what should I do?
Sometimes we get a little behind updating the shipping status in Etsy. However we do ship all our items via Paypal and they will send you an email with a delivery confirmation number. If you haven't received an email please feel free to contact us and I will be happy to give you the delivery confirmation number.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes we ship to all countries outside of the US. We use standard International Shipping and can provide you a customs number upon request. Please keep in mind that after the package leaves the US we cannot track it unless it is sent via International Priority which is an additional cost.

I want to purchase more than 1 phone can I get a special price?
Of course you can. Not only do we offer combined shipping but we also offer Group Buys. If you are interested in purchasing 2 cases you can click here. If you would like 3 cases click here. Yes these group buys can be used for any and all of our cases. If you are interested in purchasing more than 3 cases contact us so we can work out a special listing for you.
