Returns and exchanges
If the item is as described but not what you hoped for, I am happy to make an exchange or refund but must charge shipping fees.
It is much more likely that I will be able to help with any problems if I hear about them promptly so please contact me within one week of receiving the item. If I don't hear anything within one month of the shipping date as recorded by PayPal, I will assume that all is well.
If you would like to pay by Visa or MasterCard over the phone, send a convo using the "contact StudioElan" button and we can work things out from there.
If you would like to send a cheque or money order, please contact me. I cannot ship anything until the payment has been deposited in my bank account and confirmed as valid -up to two weeks. Since business banking requires a trip to another town on my part, the depositing part alone will take a few days after I receive your payment. All in all this is slow and cumbersome -please only ask for this option if absolutely necessary.
You will receive a notice through PayPal when your parcel has been shipped, usually within 1-2 business days.
PACKAGING: I take great care when packing my pottery by using sturdy boxes, bubble wrap and Styrofoam peanuts. I use clean recycled packing materials if possible -not always pretty, but eco-friendly!
COMBINED SHIPPING: Multiple items usually ship for considerably less than the total of their individual shipping rates. I refund any excess shipping through PayPal as soon as I have calculated the difference. If you would like to know the combined shipping rate before ordering, please contact me with the items you are interested in and your location including Postal Code.
To CANADA: The shipping rates shown are based on 3-5 day shipping from Ontario to British Columbia. If you are closer you will receive a refund if the shipping rate is less.
To the USA: Any packages with a shipping rate of $8 or $13 are shipped using Small Parcel AIR. Most packages sent using this service arrive within 7-10 business days -barring interference by Customs or the holiday rush -then all bets are off!!. Small Packets are not insured or tracked. If you would like insurance or tracking, please let me know and I will research the cost for you. I have not had any unresolved problems with stray or damaged parcels yet.
Parcels to Alaska and Hawaii will be shipped by Surface and may take 4-6 weeks to arrive. If you would like the faster Air service, please contact me.
Any packages with a shipping rate of $8 or $13 can be sent by Small Parcel SURFACE instead for $7.50 or $11 respectively -this may take considerably longer but may be worth it if you are patient and budgeting.
Larger packages (those with shipping rates over $13) are shipped using Expedited Parcel. This service includes insurance and delivery confirmation. Tracking is available for an additional fee. Please ask if you would like me to add this service.
To other countries listed individually by name: Shipping rates are for International SURFACE -Canada Post estimates 4-6 weeks for delivery but this frequently an underestimation -particularly to Australia. If you are interested in faster shipping (1-2 weeks) International AIR may be a possibility for your location at an increased rate. Please contact me with your location and the item(s) you would like to purchase for a quote. I will respond quickly -usually within 36 hours.
To EVERYWHERE ELSE: These listings use the highest possible rate for International Small Packet SURFACE service. Countries included in this rate are China and her neighbours, most of Africa, most South Pacific Islands and parts of the Middle East. Other countries not listed individually can expect to pay less. I will refund excess shipping through PayPal as soon as I have calculated the rate. If you would like to know the rate before purchasing, please contact me with your location and the item(s) you are interested in purchasing. I will respond quickly -usually within 36 hours. You can expect that it will be similar to the rate of the country nearest to you that I have already listed.
For many countries, International Small Packet AIR is also available for quicker delivery (1-2 weeks) for an increased rate. Again, please contact me with your location and the item(s) you are interested in purchasing. I will respond with a quote quickly -usually within 36 hours.
I reserve the right to cancel a sale if regulations, political situations or changes to shipping rates make shipping my pottery too risky or expensive. Of course, should this ever become necessary, I will refund all payment immediately.
Additional policies and FAQs
MEASUREMENTS: All measurements are taken on the exterior at the widest point. For example, a bowl is measured from rim to rim if the rim is the widest point. A vase might be measured across the middle if that is the widest point. If you are interested in interior or volume measurements, please contact me, I am glad to provide them.
I welcome questions about custom orders and wholesale pricing.
COMMUNICATION: You will receive a message from Etsy when your order has gone through to me. I will send you a notification through PayPal once your parcel is on it's way -usually 2 business days or less. I also include a note in the parcel. If you ever want more information or and update, don't hesitate to contact me. I am also happy to include a note with a message of your choice to the recipient of a gift.
FEEDBACK: I *always* leave feedback for my customers. I do tend to wait until I think your parcel has arrived because purchasing something tactile like pottery online and then shipping something breakable like pottery through Canada Post leaves plenty of opportunity for more interaction between buyer and seller. I would like to include that part of our interaction in the feedback process. But rest assured, I appreciate every one of my customers and eventually leave feedback for each transaction -whether the customer does so or not.
