Timeless Tradition of Letterpress

We are a husband-wife team who love all things letterpressed. When we met, Lauren was just a client of mine, needing a logo designed for her photography business- it wasn't too long after the project was completed that we started dating, and in about a year and a half, we were married.

While we were engaged and planning the details of the wedding, we realized that most vendors offered preset packages of whatever their service was, and we didn't feel like anything really fit us as a couple. The idea for the business came from the realization that we weren't the only couple out there struggling to find the right vendor or service and we decided all of our projects would be custom, made for the specific client.

Our business, Studio Four Three, is named after our anniversary, April 3 with the idea is that every project is special and unique.

Our shop is full of old presses, dating back to 1855. It's rare to find a press in proper working order, so they've all undergone some restoration to ensure they work properly. Each press is given a name (yes, we are sentimental like that) and we refer to them by their names. They all have different capabilities so the press we use changes depending on what we're printing.

Letterpress printing is a time-consuming method of printing, but the look and feel of the impression is worth the labor that goes into making it. There's no other printing method that can produce the textural look and feel of letterpress, which is what makes it so elegant and timeless.

Owner, Design Cool Stuff And Letterpress It.

I always wanted to be an architect, and then I went to architectural school and realized what I really love is designing something and watching it come to life- that's why I love my job: I get to design cool stuff and then letterpress it.

Additional policies and FAQs
Due to color calibration differences between computer monitors and the differences between printers, specific color matching cannot be guaranteed based upon what you see on your screen, unless a specific Pantone or PMS color is requested.

Please note, looking at a Pantone color on your computer monitor is not accurate- the monitors' calibration does not match the Pantone swatch book and formula guide, which is what we use to mix inks.

Edge painting uses a different type of ink than we use when we letterpress. While we can get the colors incredibly close to what you're wanting, they do use a different ink, which makes them difficult to be perfectly matched.

Each custom design item purchased comes standard with 2 (two) rounds of revisions. Any revisions in excess of 2 will incur a nominal fee of $25 per revision, unless otherwise specified.

All projects printed by us will be photographed and potentially used for marketing purposes, regardless if the artwork printed was designed by us or supplied to us. We will do our absolute best to respect customer's privacy and will not display important personal information in any of the photographs. If you would prefer us not to use photographs of your project, please indicate to us at the time of purchase. We do not engage in Work For Hire and do not relinquish ownership of artwork under any circumstance.
