Fine art stained glass lighting

California, United States 1 Sale On Etsy since 2012

Announcement   I fell in love with stained glass lighting when the first tiffany-style molds and patterns became available in the 70's. Since then many amazingly cheap knock-off's have been produced overseas, but I just can't seem to help myself from making high quality shades from hand-cast American glass. Each piece is selected and cut on a light table with an eye towards color mixing and shading - same as in other fine art and very time consuming! Much attention is paid to the soldering of the pieces together for a consistent, even bead.

Here in my shop you will find true cut and leaded glass along with pieces that are overlaid with UV-protected, hand painted mylar film and adhesive copper-plated lead. The effects are each beautiful but different - I think of it as the preference between a rich, deep oil painting (Tiffany style shades) or a lighter water-color (overlay methods). Of course, the overlay is faster to make and therefore less expensive, but I give the same attention to detail with color and shading.
