Tomé mi primera clase de cerámica durante el último semestre en la universidad en Nueva Jersey, y aprendí los conceptos básicos de la construcción y el torneado a mano. Desde entonces, exploré diferentes técnicas mientras tomaba clases en The Clay Studio en Filadelfia y en YWCA Toshiko Takaezu Ceramics Studio en Honolulu. Me tomé un largo descanso de jugar con arcilla cuando tuve a mis dos hijas, pero cuando mi hija menor comenzó la escuela, finalmente volví al estudio, esta vez en Carolina del Norte.

Me encantan los diseños simples, las formas y las figuras. Los estilos japonés Wabi-Sabi, rústico y shabby chic tienen una fuerte influencia en mi trabajo. Hago cada pieza en un torno de alfarería o a mano. Es posible que no las encuentres perfectamente redondas, simétricas o rectas, especialmente mis piezas moldeadas a mano. Espero que encuentres la belleza de la perfecta imperfección en cada pieza que hace que lo hecho a mano sea único y especial.

I took my first Ceramics class during the last semester in college in New Jersey, and learned the basics of hand building and throwing. Since then, I explored different techniques while taking classes at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia and YWCA Toshiko Takaezu Ceramics Studio in Honolulu. I took a long break from playing with clay when I had my two daughters, but when my younger one started school, I was finally back in the studio, this time in North Carolina.

I love simple design, shape and form. Japanese Wabi-Sabi, rustic, and shabby chic styles have strong influence on my work. I make each piece either on a pottery wheel or by hand building. You may not find them perfectly round, symmetrical or straight, especially my hand molded pieces. I hope that you find the beauty of perfect imperfection in each piece that makes handmade unique and special.
