Once again, a beautiful handcrafted piece of art in the form of a Faux-Dori cover! The cover is well constructed and will only improve with use. The image transfer is sharp, the colors vivid. There are no less than 10 fabrics, thoughtfully selected and pieced together with a variety of different stitches. So proud to use this cover, it always makes me smile! The insert matches the style of my cover and is so steampunk cool! Vivid colors, high quality paper, just an amazing purchase all around! Ships quick with considerate packaging. Thank you, thank you❣️💕💕❤️

One of a Kind, One at a Time

When I was six years old, I made my very first book. It consisted of four rectangles of paper roughly cut from a brown grocery bag, folded in half and stapled in the center. Inside, I wrote and lavishly illustrated, in No. 2 pencil, a gripping, romantic story with a surprise ending.

Ambiguously titled, "The Girl Who Loved the Milkman," the story reads, in its entirety, "Once upon a time there was a girl who loved the milkman. And she drank milk and milk and milk and milk and milk. But that is not the end, and her name was Susie and now it is the end."

(I had a lot of pages to fill.)

In the way these things have of coming full circle, I went on to experiment with all manner of artistic endeavors over the next few decades, but eventually returned to my first true love, creating unique and imaginative books. My binding techniques have grown beyond the stapler, and high-quality, acid-free papers now stand in for the brown paper bag. Each book is made by hand, with careful attention to detail, and needs only your story to make it complete.

Welcome smashers, scrappers, sketchers, photographers, travelers and art journalists! My books are designed as a special place for your treasured memories and to inspire your creative journey.

I use acid-free heavy patterned papers, sketch paper and/or cardstock for most book pages. These materials lend themselves well to sketching, journaling, scrapping, smashing and photo backgrounds. Some cover materials are new; others have been recycled from unloved hardcover books and vintage photo and postcard albums. All have been embellished with care and an eye for pleasing, timeless designs.

New for 2016 are traveler's notebook covers, in regular and wide sizes. Collage transforms fabric and stitch to create a unique "ScrappyDori" you won't find anywhere else, and no two are ever alike.

I welcome your questions and comments and will be happy to create a custom book for you!
