I Love My Job!

I have always felt the need to rescue that which needs saving. The stray dog hanging out around the house, the turtle crossing the road, the vintage dress in danger of getting torn up for a zombie costume... you get the idea! Eventually, I had saved so many things that my closet was begging for some breathing room and viola! Style & Salvage was born.

Unfortunately, Etsy is forcing sellers into policies that do not apply. What you see below is my actual return policy.

These Policies Are Not Altered On An Individual Basis! Please Do Not Ask!
Our policy regarding returns is strict and will not be altered for any reason.


*We do not accept international returns.

*If you fail to pay customs charges and the item is returned to us we will contact you when it arrives. If you fail to pay return shipping costs within 5 days of contact the item will be relisted and your original purchase price including the cost of shipping will be forfeited.

-We accept returns on most clothing items.
-All returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee.
-Refund will be given for merchandise only, not shipping or return shipping.
-Returns must be shipped back in the same condition as they were received with tags attached. Any/all accessories must be included.

***If you return an item that appears to have been used, smells strongly (cigarettes, cologne, incense, potpourri, etc) or you return an item missing original Style & Salvage tags, it will not be accepted as a return or refunded.***

*Buyer must contact Style & Salvage within 48 hours or 2 days of item receipt (example: if you receive the item on the 10th, we must be contacted by midnight on the 12th). If we are not contacted with the 2 day limit the return will NOT be accepted.

*** I repeat: If we are not contacted within the 2 day limit the return will NOT be accepted. ***

*We must be contacted via the sales channel and user account from which the purchase was made. No exceptions. Inquiries made via other channels or accounts will be discarded.

*Item must be received back at Style & Salvage within 10 days of contact. If not received within 10 days the buyer must pay to have the item re-shipped or the original purchase price is forfeit and the item is re-listed.

*If we receive the return late and/or it appears to have been used, altered, damaged, washed, dry cleaned, has a heavy odor or if our tags are not attached, a refund will not be given. The buyer must pay for return shipping if they desire the item back. If the buyer does not pay for return shipping within 5 days of contact the item and purchase cost are forfeited.

*Domestic Returns must be shipped back via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation at the customer’s expense. Delivery confirmation number must be provided at time of return. No Exceptions.

*Buyer is responsible for all shipping fees. If an item is returned, shipping charges will not be refunded.

***If you ship a return back without contacting us your item will be forfeited and will be re-listed within 48 hours. No exceptions.***

We do offer layaway.

50% non-refundable down payment.
50% + Shipping due in 30 days.
We require your PayPal email (to send invoices) and shipping zip code (to calculate shipping cost).

We will send two invoices via PayPal.
The 1st invoice is for the 50% non-refundable down payment.
The second invoice is for the final payment of 50%+Shipping with the due date.

Items purchased with our Layaway program are not returnable.
We can only offer Layaway on the Full Retail Price.
If the item you would like is currently on sale, we can still
offer layaway at the retail price.

If you would like to place an item on layaway contact us via Etsy with the full item title, your PayPal email address and your zip code. We will send the invoices as quickly as possible. The item will be removed from Etsy and eBay when the down payment is received. The item will be shipped when the final payment is received.

Yes, we offer combined shipping!

Shipping is manually combined when purchasing more than one item.
All shipping costs must be paid up front (that is the way Etsy is set up).
We refund any shipping overages paid within 48hrs of shipment. Final cost is based on package weight.


Items must be shipped to the address on file. We cannot alter the shipping address once a purchase has been made.

If you want insurance, signature confirmation, express shipping or anything else not mentioned below, please contact us prior to purchase, we are happy to work with your needs! We are unable to alter shipping options after purchase.

We ship via USPS. Cost is based on package weight. Large shipments may need to be shipped in more than one box. We will ship to the address on the account. No exceptions.

Most orders are processed within 48 hours excluding holidays and weekends unless otherwise noted.

If an item is returned to us by the post office for any reason, other than our mistake, the purchaser is responsible for the original shipping cost plus any additional shipping cost to resend the order. We will contact the buyer when we receive the item, if the return shipping payment is not received within 10 days of contact both the item and purchase costs are forfeit.


All international packages will be shipped USPS.
First Class takes 10-45 business days depending on customs processing times and tracking information is not available.
Any packages over 3.5lbs must be shipped USPS Priority Mail or Express Mail.

Customs, Duties, Import Taxes, VAT, etc. will be the responsibility of the buyer and international packages will include item description and price paid. US law requires accurate information on customs documents. We will not falsify costs or contents of the package, NO EXCEPTIONS, please do not ask.

If an item is returned to us because the customer refuses to pay import fees and/or customs charges the item is forfeit, payment is forfeit and the item is re-listed immediately.

We are not responsible for items lost during shipment or detained in customs.
International Buyers- Please Note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or the shipping cost. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying. These charges will not be reimbursed by Style & Salvage for any reason.

All items will be sold As Is.

We describe these items to the best of our ability. We check each item carefully and will try to list any notable flaws. These are vintage items and wear consistent with age is normal and should be expected.

NOS/Deadstock items will not be removed from packaging. They may have rust marks from pins, fading, dust lines or other issues from years of storage.

Items may be larger or smaller than my mannequin or model and may be clipped or pinned to show fit. Accessories are not included with purchase unless otherwise stated. This includes, but is not limited to: Crinolines, belts, jewelry, ties, tie bars, shirts and stands.



We are unable to guestimate size or fit. Measure a garment that fits you well and compare measurements to those within the listing. There are numerous size conversion charts and resources online, please use them.

Vintage clothing was cut and sized much differently than modern clothing. The size listed may not compare to the same modern size. A vintage size 12 will not necessarily fit a modern size 12.

These garments can be fragile, wearing something that is too tight for you can damage the garment. Keep in mind, if your waist measures 26” and the waist of your garment measures 26” you are going to be squeezed into it! Allow some room to breathe, sit down, eat, etc. Be honest about your measurements and what you find comfortable.

Many vintage garments were cut in a way to allow altering by a tailor for a customized fit. Please contact us if your measurements are off by just a bit, we can let you know if altering is possible.

Many vintage garments are not lined. They were made to be worn with proper undergarments, slips, girdles, pettipants, long johns, undershirts etc.

All sizes shown on garments in photos or in item title are approximate.
The measurements shown can vary based on garment style and cut.
Please use the measurements provided within the item description for the exact sizing of each garment.


NOS or Deadstock- New Old Stock items are unused and often have original tags and/or packaging. These are vintage items that were either never sold or never worn. These items can have dust marks, odors, fading, rust stains from pins etc. from decades of storage and should be cleaned before wearing.

Mint- Pristine as the day it was made, shows no signs of wear.

Near Mint- Item shows only the slightest signs of wear.

Excellent- Item shows typical signs of wear due to occasional use.

Very Good- Item is wearable, but has some surface flaws such as fading or staining.

Good- Item is wearable, but cannot be returned to excellent condition even with repairs.

Fair- Item is barely wearable, could be used for a costume or as a project piece.

Poor- Item is not wearable and could only be used for repurposing or a pattern.

~Caring for Vintage:

Style and Salvage does not guarantee any item against damage incurred from improper handling, dry cleaning, home laundering, washing in a dishwasher or cleaning with any cleaning product.

Vintage items should be worn and/or handled with consideration of their age. All items marked as vintage are at least 20 years old. Each item has been used, loved and stored with care for many years before reaching you. Knowing how to care for your vintage item is essential. Proper care will ensure its continued long life.

Most vintage garments were not designed for machine washing and drying, they either need to be hand washed and air dried or dry cleaned.

Your vintage garment may not be water safe. Please do your own research to make this determination. There is plenty of information on the internet regarding the cleaning and care of vintage items.

Dry clean any garment that is lined, has beading or sequins, embroidery work, silk, rayon or velvet. Furs and leathers need to be taken to a cleaner with experience cleaning these materials. Use a reliable cleaner that is familiar with vintage items.

Never store your garments on wire hangers, in plastic, in the sun or in areas that get extremely hot, cold or damp.

Is this returnable?

Most items are returnable. See a list of Non-Returnables below!

Items purchased on sale, purchased with a coupon code, or otherwise discounted in any way, are not returnable.

We do not accept these items as returns-
Furs (real or faux), Shoes, Socks, Lingerie, Underwear, Swimsuits/Leotards, Accessories (hats, scarves, ties, belts jewelry, etc), and items marked NOS/Deadstock.

All other items are subject to a 20% restocking fee, buyer pays returns shipping.

Does this item have any issues?

These are vintage pieces, each with their own special history. They've been worn, loved and cherished, that is part of their charm! Wear consistent with age is normal and should be expected.

We disclose any issues the item may have in the description.

Is your item marked “Excellent” or “Very Good”? If so, all issues will be noted in the description.

Items marked “Good” or lower often have too many issues to note every one, but we will document the most notable flaws.

“NOS/Deadstock” items are new old stock & unused, we will note any visible flaws. Packaged or folded items may have non-visible issues that we are not aware of prior to sale.

Measure a similar item that fits you well or use a measuring tape to measure your body. Compare your measurements to those listed.

* The listed item was measured flat, from the outside of the garment.
* Vintage sizing varies dramatically from modern day sizing.
* "Approximate Size" is an estimate not a guarantee.
* You will need room for sitting, bending over, breathing etc.
* Jackets and coats should be several inches larger than your actual chest measurement, depending on what you will wear underneath. The standard is an extra 2” in blazers, 4” in jackets, 6” in winter coats.

Do you combine shipping?

Yes! We combine shipping!
We will send a refund after purchase for any shipping overage paid.

Items purchased from the same store need to be purchased at the same time.

If you are purchasing items from more than one store, please contact us in advance for combined shipping. We can combine shipping from items purchased in StyleandSalvage, StyleandSalvageMen and SSforLess.

If you are purchasing 3 or more items and up front shipping is cost prohibitive let us know and we will create a combined listing for you.

We ship USPS only.

Priority Mail- 3-5 Business Days, with tracking
Express Mail: Overnight to most locations, with tracking
Items over $250 will be shipped with signature confirmation.

First Class International- 14-45 Business Days
Priority Mail International- 6-10 Business Days
Express Mail International- 1-3 Business Days
Items over 4lbs or $200 must ship Priority or Express Mail International.

We try to ship 5 days a week, sometimes we are out of town buying! If there will be a delay of more than 48hrs in your shipment, we will let you know.

We are unable to ship over US Holidays, the post office is not open.

The typical plan is a 50% non-refundable downpayment and 50% in 30 days. We can break this up into a few more payments if needed, all payments are non-refundable.

My package isn’t here yet! What do I do?

Go to your local USPS office with the tracking number.
Can’t make it to the office in person? Give them a call!
They will be able to see where your package is located.
If you aren’t having any luck with your local office, call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777)

Your package is probably being held by customs.
Contact your local postal delivery office and/or your local customs office. They will often hold packages until import taxes are paid in full.
