About

Everything in the world pointed me towards this career...

Sugarbeat & Co. Custom Woodworks was founded in 2011, when my boyfriend was diagnosed with lymphoma. Knowing he wouldn't be able to hold a full time job during treatments, and knowing he would need my help, we began brainstorming while doing some wood whittling. The topic of opening a wood shop was tossed around, from there everything just seemed to fall into place for us. We worked the craft fairs and watched our Etsy shop stats everyday. Before we knew it, we had local stores writing us asking to carry our products. We have never looked back. My boyfriend has been in remission 18 months. We are truly blessed, and would like to thank every one of our customers who have and continue to support us on our journey.
As some of our patrons may have noticed, we moved about 1500 miles away! That's right, we up and walked away from the heavy tax burden of California. What does this mean to you? Well we have jumped at the opportunity to expand and ultimately, save you money! We now have almost ZERO overhead! We have been setting up our newly acquired workshop to operate as efficiently as possible to keep the cost down for you. We are almost completely self sufficient, with the exception of exotic woods, machine parts and a few other little things. We are a model of what a "Green" business should look like. We rely on the worlds fastest renewable resource. We use only materials that are harvested responsibly and legally! The majority of our products are made from locally salvaged tree removal lumber. We have our own mill, complete lumber drying system, and a fully equipped wood shop with state of the art machinery and heirloom quality practices.
Our motto, "Turning firewood to heirlooms, daily!", quite literally sums us up in one sentence. My venture into woodcarving started by robbing my dads firewood pile to find out what beautiful grain was hiding under its rough and rugged edges. To this day, almost 90% of our products are made from local wood. Check craigslist, you will see our ads!

I am so happy I get to do what I love for a living. Each day I work with wood, I get the pleasure of touching the warmth of 10000 sunrises and sunsets. I couldn't imagine doing anything else. Thank you for your support!
