Living With Fiber and Loving It!

I learned to knit nearly thirty years ago and have not stopped. Compliments from people who received knitted gifts were typically framed along the lines of "Wow, that looks store-bought!" We certainly strive to achieve a polished and professional look for our products, but also want to acknowledge the expertise and craftsmanship that goes in to the entire process and each piece. The last decade has seen quite the proliferation of fiber enthusiasts and fantastic fiber outlets across the country, making beautiful fiber and yarn readily available in every nook and cranny.

I dreamed of spending my days working with fiber rather than just simply sitting at a desk. Thanks to my three cats, Poni, Mowgli and Beemer, I developed interests in other areas fiber can be developed, namely, the Paca Pet Pouf luxury pet bed. Every time I got my sorting table out, they all clamored to snuggle and bask in the fiber. Clearly, they were on to something. We designed and tested several versions of the bed before deciding on the three standard models we now offer.

The cat and dog toys soon followed - how could we just offer beds since there were other great things to do with the fiber?! Besides, many items are made with limited amounts of yarn and fabric, so the beds not only allow us to use the alpaca fiber that is often discarded because it's deemed undesirable (too short to spin, too coarse to where next to your skin), but the leftover fabric and yarn really means that NOTHING goes to waste!

I returned to my knitting roots with our knitted accessory product line, offering ready to ship items and custom knit accessories in a variety of colors, modern knits designed for the entire family.

An independent storefront, sugarboysfibercreations.com, is the most recent addition to our family. In addition to our handmade items, we are able to offer some additional pet products and craft supplies. We also have a loyalty club with generous returns, so visit us there!

A Lilac Point Javanese male from Spokane, Washington. Poni was with us since October 1998 when he was just three months old. He was our elder statesman until he passed in 2016. His legacy lives on in our hearts and products.
Beemer

Quality Control

An Ebony Ticked Long-haired Oriental from Ohio. He has been with us since December 2010 when he was just four months old. He is known to our pet sitters as the gigolo because he's soooo affectionate! He is ALWAYS available to test and evaluate!
Mowgli

Quality Control

An Ebony Ticked Short-haired Oriental from Pennsylvania. He has been with us since December 2010 when he was just four month's old. He is the shy boy in our house but helps reign Beemer in when necessary. Mowgli offers reflection and evaluation.
Keiki

Product Tester

A lilac point Balinese from Buffalo, New York. Keiki has been with us since June 207 when he was just four months old. Mr. Pippy "thinks" he's the top cat and is often found stealing toys as I package them, so he's our top in-house product tester.
Jori

Lifestyle Model

Jori the Ragdoll resides in Maryland is one of our lifestyle models for our cat toys. Stylish and sweet, Jordy gives our products life and showcases them beautifully.
Silvy

Lifestyle Model

Silvy the Himalyan lives in Maryland with Jori and is another lifestyle model for Sugarboy's cat products. Silvy brings an air of sophistication whenever they're in front of the camera!
Nash

Lifestyle Model

Dash lives in Maryland and is a member of our photographer's family. Dash is always ready when duty calls and he doubles as a product tester since he likes to steal toys before they've had the opportunity to be photographed!
Nellie

Lifestyle Model

Nellie is Dash's younger sibling. A smaller version of Dash, Nellie is a fabulous spokesmodel for Sugarboy's dog products. She has on occasion been rewarded with toys for her hard work!
