About

Cherished

The interesting thing about Florida is that it is home to the world. A native like myself is a rare breed. But I am a fifth generation Floridian thanks to my mother, Rossie Belle. Also thanks to my mom, I inherited a love for old things.

When I was growing up, that love came out in little spurts - a fascination for religious objects, an adoration for old wood, attraction to shiny things and things with a keen smell. I was drawn to beautiful images, rusty stuff. That grew into wanderings among gravestones, hunts for sharks teeth and little gems buried in dirt. And then, visits to antique shops.

It's odd. People like me are drawn to what was rather than what is. Maybe we are just old souls searching for true north, trying to get our bearings.

Regardless, the hunt goes on. I keep a lot of my treasures, and release them only after our love affair begins to wane. That's when they come to you - cherished old things from Florida and the world.

Hello and Welcome to Sunshine State Vintage!

As you can tell from my shop name, I'm a Floridian and I love vintage. Most of my items are from local estate sales and I never buy anything that I wouldn't want in my home. I love to collect beautiful old jewelry, glass, art pottery and most everything with a Japanese or Chinese heritage. That's just the tip of the iceberg. My other favorites include vintage linens, old books and post cards.

I hope you enjoy your time here and find that special collectible to add to your own collection.

Payment is expected immediately.

If you need to delay payment for some reason, please get in touch with me via Etsy, and I'll be happy to reserve an item for up to 3 business days.

When using PayPal, please make sure your identity and shipping address is verified by PayPal so there is no problem with delivery.

I accept cash from LOCAL BUYERS in the North Florida area when a pick-up is to be arranged. Please contact me here at Etsy BEFORE you complete check-out as I waive the shipping fee. A 10% fuel/handling charge will be added to the total purchase price. I do not conduct business at my home. A predesignated location will be provided.
Shipping
US Post Office Requirements
Note that all shipping addresses must be up-to-date and include the recipients full name, address including apartment number if applicable, city, state and zip code. I will not ship an item if any of these elements are missing. If the USPS or PayPal cannot confirm a mailing address, I will not mail an item.

SHIPPING UPGRADES
A Shipping Upgrade to Priority Mail is available for many of my First Class Mail items sold to U.S. buyers. You'll see this option at Check-Out and can choose the faster service if you wish.

MY TURNAROUND TO THE POST OFFICE
I deliver purchased items to the post office within two business days of payment confirmation. If you have a Rush on delivery, please upgrade to Priority Mail for quicker delivery and convo me about your timeline. I'll do my best to get it out as soon as possible.

Multiple orders are welcomed! A shipping discount is in place for most but not all items.
Refunds and Exchanges
I sell vintage. That means the items in my shop are at least 20 years of age, and often much older. I strive to sell items in as near perfect state as possible. However, those who love vintage understand that slight imperfections are a mark of age.

I take multiple photos as part of my description and describe each item in detail, including any condition issues like scratches, crazing or other elements that result from prior use or aging. If an item has sustained damage such as a chip or is missing something, such as a stopper in a salt shaker, I note it in the description.

I do my utmost to provide buyers with clear, detailed and honest descriptions. I have sold collectibles since 1999 and value my customers and my integrity as a seller.

My policy on returns for vintage sales is that I do NOT offer returns of vintage items for any reason other than in-transit damage.

RETURNS DUE TO IN-TRANSIT DAMAGE
Occasionally an item may receive rough handling and arrive damaged.

When that happens, I'm happy to refund you the cost of the item once I receive photos that clearly show the damage. Once I confirm in transit damage, I will issue a refund. In most cases, you will keep the damaged item.

***Note that ALL jewelry items must be returned at the buyer's cost before a refund will be issued.***

Please contact me as soon as possible via Etsy after noting in transit damage to proceed with the refund process.

With the exception of in transit damage, ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
Additional policies and FAQs
I store my inventory in a smoke-free environment.

However, please keep in mind that my items are from outside sources such as estate sales and private homes. For that reason, I cannot guarantee that every item originated from a smoke-free environment.

I do my best to accurately describe each item and provide detailed photos. But I am not an expert or an appraiser of vintage and antiques. If you have any questions about an item, please feel free to contact me for more information before you make a purchase.

I set my prices at a reasonable level and I rarely accept lower offers. But if you see something you can't live without, and want to negotiate, then send me your best offer.
