5 out of 5 starsThe star is as beautiful as I had hoped. It took a long time to arrive due to shipping but that had nothing to do with the seller. Well packed and surprisingly sturdy. I thought it would be more fragile.

5 out of 5 starsI thought this item was beautiful online but I have to say it is even more beautiful in person. A true artist, and the quality was also really good. Would definitely purchase from them again. Excited to put it on my tree this year!

Glass is neither Solid Nor Liquid.
There is a mystery to glass. It is a jewel-like substance made from the most ordinary materials that are transformed by fire. It captures light and glows from within. Glass is a form of matter possessing gas, liquid, and solid-state properties. It is most like a super-cooled liquid and should always be held vertically.Glass, is actually neither a liquid-supercooled or otherwise-nor a solid. It is an amorphous solid state somewhere between those two states of matter. Glass is then a stable supercooled liquid, one that will remain in that form indefinitely.
Prior to recorded history, man learned to make glass and color it by adding metallic salts and oxides. These minerals capture specific portions of the spectrum allowing the human eye to see various colors. Gold produces stunning cranberry; cobalt makes blues; silver creates yellows and gold; copper makes greens and brick red.
I love working in glass and all that can be created from the medium. It poses many challenges. Perhaps that's what I love most about it.
The first step is to create a design on paper that considers overall structural integrity and cutability. Then a template is created allowing space for the lead.
Cutting glass can seem magical to those who don't know how it’s done, and downright frustrating to those who have tried it without training or the proper tools.
Glass has a tightly packed and firmly bonded molecular structure particularly receptive to vibrations. When one molecule receives kinetic energy and vibrates, so do all of its neighbors. The entire sheet vibrates uncontrollably and shatters under the pressure. Proper glass cutting technique takes advantage of this structure by creating a fault line in the material. When the glass vibrates, it breaks apart smoothly along the fault. A carbide wheel cutter is used to score the glass or a ring saw is used for pieces that are impossible to cut with a wheel. Since glass wants to break straight a "C" is the hardest to cut.
The glass is smoothed on a grinding wheel to remove sharp edges and inaccuracies in shape. The grinding also helps the adhesive copper foil to adhere to the glass. Each piece is individually wrapped and burnished. Flux is applied and the pieces soldered together.

General Information:
Please be careful not to torque or pinch glass while unwrapping or handling your new piece of stained glass. Do not pull wrapping apart but cut with scissors. It’s best to balance piece in the palm of your hand, the cantilevered pieces are very fragile.
Panels are best kept upright or vertical.
Be sure to wash your hands after handling as it’s leaded.
To clean your glass, mild dish soap is best. Oxidation of lead can be corrected with glass wax.
Although very durable, it’s probably wise to replace the mono-filament yearly as it gets brittle and stretches in the sun. .A surgeon’s knot is recommended as a strong knot.
Enjoy your stained glass, it can be an heirloom if handled gently.
