I see the World
As a child, I grew up in a home where my parents were keenly interested in Canadian and international news. Some of my most vivid childhood memories involve reading the morning newspaper and listening to CBC Radio's half-hour "World at Six" broadcast during family dinners. Back then, my parents, four brothers, and I talked often about global affairs and, whenever we get together, we still do.
The maps and globes that decorate my house show that a worldview is still a big part of my life. My post-secondary education had an international focus and every day I continue to follow the news from around the world. What happens to the people of the world deeply matters to me.
Few things bring me more joy than meeting and talking with people from around the world and hearing their perspectives and life experiences. But not everyone speaks English. It is my personal belief that in order to connect with a global friend in a meaningful way, it is most respectful to speak their language and understand their country, culture, and politics. This is why I am a student of languages.
I learned French in a junior high French Immersion program and then studied Russian for 4 years in college. Several years ago, I started studying Spanish and am excited by how much I have learned through self-study. Me encanta Español. My goal is to become a polyglot -fluent in multiple languages - so I can speak with people everywhere.
I also love Jesus Christ and have deep faith in Him. Through the elegant, innovative, and multi-lingual designs I create for this Etsy shop, I hope to share my love for the Savior with His precious children in their language, their way.
I have spent hours checking, double-checking, and correcting the text in these translations but I still may have made mistakes. If you see any errors in my work or have any feedback or suggestions for new designs, don’t hesitate to email me at sunflowercreativelabs [!at] gmail.com. I would love to make a new friend!
