Sunrise Wick & Wash basics...

Hellooo...

I've always been rather an old soul. I dream about simpler times & living off the grid somewhere in Alaska. I grew up in Atlanta and even as a child I was always excited about taking trips to the mountains & getting to spend more time outdoors. I graduated from KSU and UGA (GO DAWGS!) and was in med school when I met my hubby in 2014. Not only was I lucky enough to snag an amazing life partner, I was ecstatic to make the move away from the rat race and into the mountains. Now, my office has a view of our beautiful Appalachian mountains and I get to make soap and other bath/body products. Something I couldn't have imagined and I am beyond thankful for having the opportunity. It truly is a lot of fun. I even get to turn the music up as loud as I want to. ;-)

Besides making suds, I love hiking, kayaking, yoga, skiing, traveling, music & reading. Jason & I are out & about exploring every chance we get, often with boots on wading in rivers or climbing rocks. We have tried to bring our love of land & the Appalachian area into all our work as much as possible.

My hubby (Jason), our three amazing kids, three pups, one kitty & I live in the mountains of North Georgia. We have a little shop called Sunrise Grocery, which is about two miles from Vogel State Park at the base of the mountain. My hubby is a published photographer at JMC Artistic Photography. He & Chris Greer are in the pre-production stage of filming a photography inspired travel show for GPB (Georgia Public Broadcasting) that will be airing in spring of 2022. We have both his photography & my soaps at Sunrise Grocery in Blairsville, along with other locally-made goodies like honey, jams, pottery, shirts, produce, etc.

As for how Sunrise Wick & Wash was born...an opportunity presented itself in 2016 when a friend who made soap for our store taught me the art of soap-making and handed me the torch. I decided to take a little bit of a different route with it to make it more personal. I wanted to create soap that had ties to Appalachia and our mountains. I make an old-fashioned, simple, yet balanced, natural lye soap that makes lots of suds. Every bar of soap & candle is made in small batches, using high quality fragrance and essential oils. I take pride in being able to send a little piece of love, creativity and Appalachia into every order that goes out. It's pretty fun creating functional, every day tools in an artsy manner. More importantly, I like knowing what's in them. Health is very important to me so I try to stay away from as much man-made, processed products as possible. & use as much earth-given, natural products instead. I have had a blast these last few years and everyone has been amazingly supportive! I owe every person who has supported me a huge "THANK YOU" for such a cool opportunity!

Thanks again for stopping by and especially for all the support & kindness you guys have given me the last few years of starting this journey.

Cheers!
~Jes
