I began designing and making teddy bears for my own collection in 1992. My first attempt at creating a bear resulted in a strange animal that looked more like a rat than a teddy bear. Thankfully I didn't stop there and my second attempt produced my first Sunshine Teddy Bear. A year later I designed a teddy bear for a friend and Sunshine Teddy Bears was born. My first sale resulted in a bit of joy as well as a few tears as she left for her new home. Today my Sunshine Teddy Bears are in collections throughout the United States.

There is something very special about taking a wad of fur and creating a teddy bear who seems to speak to me. Each Sunshine Teddy Bear has its own unique expression and I know immediately if a face I've created is a male or female and whether it is a young bear or an oldster. The creation of each teddy bear today is still as exciting as the very first one. The minute I start a new bear I can hardly wait to see the newest face to join our family of Sunshine Teddy Bears.

My Sunshine Teddy Bears are designed for the serious collector and teddy bear lovers worldwide. Each Sunshine Teddy Bear is hand-sewn from a variety of fur colors and styles and is fully jointed. Sunshine Teddy Bears are collectibles and are not intended to be toys for small children.

The trademark over-sized ears of Sunshine Teddy Bears add to the appeal of these wondrous creatures - they bring love, comfort and joy to the homes and hearts of their owners. Sunshine Teddy Bears are available dressed or undressed; their clothing is as unique as each bear, and no two are ever dressed alike. My weekends are often spent combing antique stores, and I am constantly on the look-out for antique dresses or hats for my bears.

"Memory bears" are special order bears that wear your child's or grandchild's first baby outfit, or I can use a piece of clothing from a loved one to create a new outfit for your bear. An example of a "family of bears" are the Sunshine Teddy Bears I created for a blended family - each bear was designed around a family member's special interest or talent.

Each Sunshine Teddy Bear comes with a hang tag with their name and registration number. If your bear is a special order memory bear, or a bear in your family of bears, then the name of the bear on the hang tag will be the name of your choice.
