Sursy Chic: One part fabric embellishment, one part contemporary design with a twist of southern charm... serve for any occasion!

I have always loved crafting, nurtured by my Granny, who made my clothes and toys when I was very young. We made a lot of things together, some unique and beautiful, others just goofy and fun. Old clothes danced as rag dolls, washcloths reinvented themselves as pillows, and tin foil (carefully washed after each use!) made the grandest Christmas tree ornaments. I have dabbled in a multitude of mediums, but in the years since my Granny has been gone, I've come back to fabric crafts similar to the ones she and I created together.
I love the challenge of trying to bridge the gap between my mind's eye and my hand's capabilities. The thrill of finally getting it right is like none other. I have given away countless handmade items over the years (a habit I inherited from Granny). No sooner than we put the final stitch in an embroidery piece and received a compliment on it, she was giving it to the complimenter and wishing them a good day. Suffice it to say, I only have one piece of embroidery left from our time together. The rest reside in my fading memories.
The goal of my Etsy shop is to provide carefully crafted items at affordable prices while being able to replenish my fabric stash. I haven't met a color I didn't like, so my stash multiplies uncontrollably! :) I hope to recreate some of the items I learned at my Granny's side, while my memory permits.
I hope to pass along a love for creating to my daughter (she already has a brilliant imagination)! Though she is only five, she has already shown great skill at coordinating colors and fabrics, however, she sounds too much like her father when she says, "Mom, you really have enough fabric." To which I reply, "Never, honey, never."
