Announcement    Susan Cooper does not remember a time when making art was not part of her life. As a child, she joyfully drew for her family. Later, she spent her afternoons sketching, painting, and exploring other mediums in the school art lab. It was her happy place.

At university, Susan found her creative voice studying art technique and art history and later became an elementary art teacher. Here, she found she could integrate art with language instruction, helping kids create storyboards to improve reading comprehension. Her innovative use of art in the classroom won her acknowledgement as an outstanding educator for many years.

After leaving teaching, Susan continued as an artist specializing in pen and ink with watercolor wash. During this time, she was hired for several print commissions, including for Salt Fork State Park in Ohio. Susan continued making art until 1989 when she moved to California. There, a new career and lack of available studio space limited her ability to create. For the first time ever, creating art took a backseat to other demands. It was not until 2009 that she discovered a simple digital art platform on her iPad and started to create a few digital art images for fun. This was art that did not require the space of more traditional mediums – and a new creative outlet was born!

Over the next few years, Susan honed her skills as a digital artist and graduated to the fine art digital platforms on iPad Pro. These provided her with all the tools – canvases, brushes, pencils, pens – that she could need, and all at her figure tips. Susan’s iPad had become her portable studio! Now, although she still works in an array of media, Susan’s specialty is digital art.

Susan currently sells her art online and at regional art shows.

I've always admired Susan's drawings, so I was thrilled when she decided to share her art by opening a "store" on Esty. I immediately bought "Rose Bowl" and framed it. I'm not a very good photographer and this photo doesn't do the print justice, but I thought you might like to see how it looks framed. Highly recommend Susan's art.
