Susan Speck handbuilt funk-tional porcelain

Mission, Kansas | 1 Sale

Announcement    I love clay and I love making pots. I create whimsical, highly textured functional pieces...cups, teapots, jars, plates, boxes and vases. Each piece is slab-built cup with pressed, stamped & rolled textures, decorated with stains, underglazes & glaze. Pots are created by pressing decorated slabs into handmade bisque molds in the form that I need. Lips and rims are 'thrown' to ensure smoothness. Stains & underglaze added before 1st firing. Stains are added before the second or third firing. All pots are glazed for functionality.
As all my pieces are one-of-a-kind, form, decoration and coloration will vary. All my work is microwave and dishwasher safe, but I always prefer to wash my handmade pots in mild dishwashing soap.
