Announcement   Welcome to Susan Ziel's Wabi Creations Etsy store! Susan Ziel is a self-taught artist who transforms textiles into a range of liberated, technicolor commodities -- purses, fabric bowls, wall hangings, table runners quilts and other adornments for you and your world.

Susan’s work was featured at the Indiana Design Center, and one of her purses — made from her husband’s retired ties — won a contest and was featured in Haute Handbags. Susan relishes the artistic inspiration of Wabi, a Zen concept.

Susan first encountered “Wabi” as an aesthetic theme while dining at Mike's on the Avenue,a long ago restaurant in New Orleans, in 1993. The entire restaurant was themed in black and white, but the waiters wore hand-painted, colorful ties. The bussers wore black t-shirts with the word “WABI” in prominent white lettering down the front. The owner, Michael Fennelly, explained that Wabi is a Zen concept that means "perfection through spontaneous imperfection," an idea that elevates and celebrates the creative features of Susan’s art.
