My little whale canvas has been added to my shop.

Suzielou creates bold and beautiful art and textiles.

I have been on a creative path for most of my life. I have studied art since leaving school, worked in different creative areas and travelled to many countries in the pursuit of inspiration for my own art. Being creative is what fuels me in the mornings and what keeps me up at night!

Up until the birth of my first son in 2007 I was busy travelling the country and taking part in lots of exhibitions and art fairs such as The Affordable Art Fair - Battersea, Top Drawer - London and British Craft Trade Fair - Harrogate. And then babies arrived and I decided to take a break from the art world even though my brain was still thinking creatively. During this period I craved more personal items for my children to enjoy, that something a little bit special and unique but practical too so I dusted the sewing machine off and started prototyping bags and blankets and sourcing brightly coloured fabrics and designs. In 2011 I started my first etsy shop 'Suzielou textiles' selling my own handlebar bag design for kids, blankets and seat protectors and have been selling them successfully ever since.

Over the past few years the desire to pick up the paintbrushes again has emerged where I left off around 8 years ago. I have been painting to my hearts content over the last few months and my creative world has truly opened up again. One of the last exhibitions I participated in was entitled Big, Bold and Beautiful which summed up my colourful wall art and textiles. It is these words that still ring true to the essence of my art. I like bold colours, I like challenging scale within my work and I am in love with beautiful imagery and patterns. I have decided to change my shop name so that it includes my new original art work and prints and I am very excited to announce that I will be adding much of this new work here over the next couple of weeks.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and browse.

One of the aims for my Suzielou shop is to create products that the buyer feels good about and in turn makes the buyer feel 'good' about themself. I am a lover of colour and I use colour in such a way as to inject a sense of happiness and fun in to everyday life. You will be able to tell from the listings in my shop that bold and beautiful colours are my thing and I hope you will get pleasure in browsing and hopefully buying something that catches your eye.

You can rest assured that everything in my shop has been made and finished with due care and attention. All original artwork is sealed with a UV fixative and ready to hang. Prints are printed with pigment inks to make sure a long lifetime is achieved. All the textiles are hand finished by me in my studio in Hampshire and I take care in double checking everything I send out.

Happy browsing and enjoy the colour!
