Gown came out beautiful and my daughter looked like a princess!
A Lifelong Dream
I have always had needles in my hands. I started sewing at four years of age when my great-grandmother taught me how to do embroidery. In high school, with the mentoring of my grandmother, a professional seamstress, I began entering and winning contests for my needlecraft. Back then I wanted to be a nurse and a clothing designer....but clothing designers didn't seem to come from Detroit. I went on to school and in college, I had a custom window treatment business with a partner as well as sewing for myself and some special friends.
When I married and the children arrived, I sewed for them and me! I sewed for my home and learned how to crochet as well as the knitting I had been doing since age 8.
I love the design part of my business the most.
When I had to become a care-giver to my dear husband, I had to be home. A friend of my daughter's had an ETSY shop and asked if I would be interested in starting a business. One look at the products available and I was hooked!
Suzy Precious was born. The name came from what everyone says when they see my work.."Oh, Suzy that is so precious!"
I have a studio that used to be called my sewing room. The empty guest room closet is my stock room and the garage my shipping department. I have made everything, just about, in my life. I love to sew and also to do other needlework.
Today, I am busy! I want to provide things that are both beautiful and practical. I have been able to use my vast experience with fabric, yarn and children to make things that are beautiful, well-fitting and will provide generations of service. I probably have things in my own closet that I have made and laundered for longer than most folks have been alive. I use only quality yarns and fabrics...no bargain table remnants for me. I put the extra touches in each garment as if I were making it for me or one of my own family.
I am committed to customer service and strive to make certain my customers are not only satisfied, they are thrilled with each and every item.
