Hinemoana, Goddess of the Ocean Clay, sharks teeth, sea weed, hemp fibre
I have fallen in love with all the materials which form the sacred taonga to the fabric and canvas which reveal the images of my inner world.
Working with the Atua, the forces, nature, nature spirits, all of the senses, my dreams, my ancestors and my teachers allows me to enter into the world of creation in collaboration with what wishes to be brought to form.
The cycles of life – solar, lunar, seasonal and personal, provide the protective framework for my creative output.
I see beauty and I recreate it.
I had a dream that changed my life. I saw my tipuna, the Tohora, resting in the stars. Then I understood my origins and my destiny and I knew what to create.
As a multi-media artist, I have fallen in love with all the materials – from the harakeke for weaving, to the pukapuka for medicine, the gold and silver, pounamu, whalebone and teeth which form the sacred taonga to the fabric and canvas which reveal the images of my inner world.
