Can't say enough good things about the scents this shop has to offer! I just received my second of order of many to come! I love the originality of the scent combinations and will eagerly await new ones. The scent sampler is an excellent way to familiarize one with all the lovely candles. They last a good long time. XOXOXO

Lovely packaging, amazing scents, and fast shipping. Not to mention a local Cleveland brand. Will continue to purchase more items in the future!

About

Sweet Dish & Darling // Grown, blended, hand poured and sewn in the USA

Sweet Dish & Darling is a small batch, hand crafted business, pouring candles since 2009 in Cleveland, Ohio. We began as a hobby to help fill a candle void in a friend's establishment and have grown into a full blown home-grown candle business.

Each fragrance is brainstormed, blended, tested, poured and packaged in our home studio. We find beautiful fabrics and sew each package with care and consideration for every candle we send to market.

We travel to trade shows, craft fairs and flea markets spreading Cleveland candle love and find so much joy in sharing our fragrances and stories with people.

There's nothing more satisfying than pouring your heart into a craft ... it's made even sweeter watching a patrons smile when they pick up a tester and hang onto it while they continue to shop.

Benefits of Soy vs. Parafin
Soy is made from soy beans. burns longer and cooler than other waxes. produces little to no soot when burning. is a better alternative for people with athsma and allergies. is easy to clean with soap and water. is a renewable resource, biodegradeable and non-toxic.

Parafin wax is a byproduct of petroleum. produces harmful carcinogens when burned. burns hotter than soy. contains benzene and toluene (cancer causing agents). many typical parafin candles also contain wicks with metal (zinc or lead) cores which leach into the air when burned. is non-renewable and a known allergen.

My favorite part of candle making is creating fragrances based on memories and moments. By passing on a candle I'm handing you a moment, story or a memory that I love and want to share with you.

Frequently asked questions

Wholesale availability

We love working with new Wholesalers! Send us a convo to start up an account and review our wholesale policies and minimums.

How long do your candles burn?

Our Burlap Line typically gets between 40 and 60 hours of burn time! 20 ounce Apothecary Jars burn for around 140 hours and we see around 175 hours of burn time for our 30 ounce Apothecary Jars! Travel tins usually last between 10-12 hours!

How do I trim my wicks?

You can purchase special scissors to trim your wicks to 1/4" but we typically wait for there to be a sizable 'knob' on the top of the wick and just use our fingers to break it off. It usually leaves the perfect amount of wick left over. Remember to keep your double-wicked Apothecary candle wicks trimmed to similar heights!

On our travel tins, we usually wait until the wood wick has cooled and there is a noticeable split between the sides of the wick. we pinch it with our fingers and make it nice, clean and straight again.

Always trim wicks when they're cool! And remember to always keep candle free of debris and to dispose of your wick trimmings in the proper manner to prevent fire.

How do I get the longest life out of my candle?

We always suggest allowing your candle to melt along the entire surface from edge to edge before extinguished it the first time. Candles have a 'memory' and will have a really hard time burning anything outside the burn pool of your first burn, so make it count and give yourself about 1-2 hours for this first burn to get the best and longest life out of your candle. Also, keep your candle away from drafts and humidity for the longest burn.

Trimming your wicks properly will also aid in a long candle life (see above wick trimming advice)
