Really lovely piece. I like this new series of abstracts. This piece is a beautiful addition to my collection of Jodi's work.

This painting is so colorful. It's absolutely luscious! It lifts my spirits whenever I see it. I also love the message.

About

From Hobby to Profession

In 2007 I started my Etsy shop as an outlet to sell a few pieces of art that I created in my downtime away from my day job and it truly was an hobby that I grew more and more passionate about with every artwork created. Not long after I started my 'hobby', I also started teaching in person and online and would dream about one day working full time as an artist. The early years, I would work evenings, weekends, late at night, early in the morning--whatever time I could to do what I loved. I began to put the pieces of the puzzle in place so that I could leave my day job as a bank manager and truly dedicate myself to my new career or the career I wanted to have, it wasn't easy but then again, the things in life that are important to you never really are 'easy' but they are worth every ounce of sweat, lost sleep and things given up so you can have what you dream about.

In 2011, I left my day job as a bank manager to pursue my art career full time. For the first couple of years my focus was on teaching around the country and online, as well as, writing for magazines such as Cloth Paper Scissors, Art Journaling, Artful Blogging, Studios and more. In addition, I began to seek out galleries and boutiques to sell my work around North Carolina and the East Coast. I continued doing these things as I also grew my Etsy shop, having sold 100's of items to customers in the US and around the world.

2014 was a whirlwind year, I traveled to a ton of places around the country teaching techniques and art processes to several hundred students, I cut down the galleries I sold at because it was becoming not as manageable as I wanted it to be (bigger is not always better) and started to refocus my efforts closer to home and back to my Etsy shop. My goal for 2015 is to increase my offerings in my shop so that there are many different entry points for those that enjoy my work (from the inexpensive to the high end), offer more supplies so that those that have been bit by the creative bug or are aspiring artists can have options to create as well. You'll also start seeing more and more items offered as I enhance the shop on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. Teaching artists is a huge passion of mine. When asked why I create, why I teach--my answer is to share that connection, that passion I have with others that are like me. You'll see more class/workshop offerings this year along with the increased listings, I have lots of great things in store for my fans and followers!, I hope the growth of this shop will increase as my passion to continue pursuing art has bloomed year after year.

NEW-I recently completed my manuscript for my first book, "Abstracts in Acrylic and Ink"! Be watching for the new release of this dream come true during the latter portion of 2016!

Thank you for checking out my world of color, texture, whimsical painted illustrations, abstracts, and inspirational art. I hope that whether you are a patron or a student or some combination of both, you find my art a vehicle to connect with yourself and others.
