Note from shop owner 💕🏡 I AM MOVING! 🏡💕 I am taking a couple weeks off while my family and I move into our new home. I am so excited to have a bit more space for my boys and dogs, and I will have an actual studio workspace (that is not in my kitchen!) to spread out a little bit which will hopefully help me become more productive!

Feel free to send me an email at SweetSilver [!at] firebin.net or a Facebook message if you need to get ahold of me for any reason. I will respond to you as soon as I am able, and I look forward to re-opening my shop as soon as I can!

I will post updates on Instagram (@sweetsilverjewelry) and Facebook (SweetSilverJewelryDesigns) of our move and setting up my new workspace, so please follow along if you are interested!

bee I sawed this sweet little bee by hand out of a sheet of silver, for the design on the back of this bumble bee jasper necklace that I just added to my shop. (A little secret: this was my third attempt! wink)
A process shot from making a turquoise and crazy lace agate statement ring that I just listed in my shop. Not so pretty at this point, but check out the final product...
Sent out this abalone ring a few days ago. This one has such a beautiful rainbow of colors. This ring style is available to be made in your ring size and with your choice of abalone!

As long as I can remember I have always enjoyed creating something from scratch with my own hands. I have tried my hand at lots of different 'arts', including watercolor, pencil drawing, acrylic painting, sewing, clay, stained glass, paper crafting, wire and steel, photography, and graphic design. I even like putting together Ikea furniture!

I started making jewelry in the fall of 2010. I heard about "metal clay" and read a few books and ordered some supplies. I taught myself (with the help of the books and the wonderful internet) and started making jewelry for family and friends as gifts. I also began learning more about semi-precious gemstones and incorporating them into my jewelry. I opened my Etsy store in January of 2011 and began selling earrings and then personalized mommy and grandma necklaces. Late 2013, I began learning how to set calibrated stones in very simple pre-made bezel settings. I kept seeing all kinds of stones that were different sizes and shapes that I wanted to work with, but didn't know how to create my own settings. Once again, I bought books, watched videos, and ordered lots more tools and supplies, and learned how! This led to learning more about traditional silversmithing, and I am on a quest to continually improve and learn new techniques.

The process of creating with silver is very time and labor intensive, which I think adds to my connection with the piece. I especially love that each piece is going to be different and each can be personalized.

Making one of a kind, personalized, and custom jewelry gives me a way to connect with people that I would not have otherwise. I tend to be an introvert, along with spending lots of time at home with my 4 young kids (nap times, trips to the school bus stop, etc.) so having something personal that I can create and share with others is great. The idea that my jewelry can be worn and cherished and passed on is what inspires me to keep this up. I am thankful to God for the opportunity to have this creative outlet and that I get to share it with others.

***PLEASE READ BELOW FOR CURRENT PRODUCTION/SHIPPING TIMES.***

Creating with metal clay, gemstones, and sterling silver brings me such joy! I love watching my creations change during each step of the process. I take my time with each item I make to ensure it is exactly as I pictured it in my head, although some evolve along the way and I like them better than my original idea. On personalized pieces, I hand stamp the letters lending them even more handmade charm. Since each item is created one at a time and by hand, there may be slight variations to the images on made to order items. This way you are sure to receive a one of a kind piece!

When I price my pieces I take into consideration not just the material cost, but my time spent, the skill needed, and the value of fine and sterling silver and gemstones.
